Mr. William K. Phillips

William Kermit Phillips was born on January 10, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the first born son to James Kermit and Dorothy Ormes Phillips. He was later followed by two siblings, Dorothy Eileen Phillips Harris and Valerie Phillips. William graduated from John Adams high school in the Spring of 1966, and soon after, began his college career at Central State University. In July of 1969, William married Sandra Curtain (Brown) and had two daughters; Kim and Kyllan. William began working at a local bank after attending college and eventually, at Gould Incorporated. William later moved to Los Angeles, California where he lived and worked for many years utilizing the talents in which he was most skilled. He then headed to the New Jersey area, followed by Columbus, Ohio where he worked at Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. in Marysville. William was an avid race car fanatic. He loved Formula One and Nascar racing. He would frequently work on his old Dodge sports car and was good at repairing and maintaining things. He was also a huge Browns, Cavaliers and Tribe fan. William spent his retired years taking excellent care of his father, James Phillips. He enjoyed road trips to racing events and to family reunions in both Salem, Ohio, Washington DC and Maryland. William leaves to cherish his memory his father James Kermit Phillips and sister Dorothy Eileen Harris. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorothy Ormes Phillips and sister Valerie Phillips. He will always be remembered by his two daughters Kim Nickerson (Rob) and Kyllan Cody (William) and four grandchildren; Drew Nickerson, Laurel Cody, Elliott Cody and Ari Nickerson. His niece and nephews who will miss his infectious sense of humor are Charles Harris (Wendy), Chris Harris and Zita Harris Foster (Percy), along with his adorable great-nephews Maurice Harris, Dimitrious Harris, Zahar Foster and Percy Foster. He leaves behind close cousins Vaughn Phillips, Diane Mendez, Zita Phillips, Dalton Allen, Lorraine Phillips, Daryl Phillips, Todd Phillips, Mica Phillips, their families and valued friends Clarence Walker, Damon Carroll, the Curtain, Smith, Walker, Woodson, Collier and Sistrunk families and a host of other endearing acquaintances and friends.
