Wendy Green Obituary THE SERVICE WILL BE LIVESTREAMED ON THE HOUSE OF JUBILEE'S FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE PAGES Wendy Kay (Wright) Green was a vibrant and beautiful woman. She was the first-born daughter to Andrew & Lillie Wright on July 29, 1966, at St. Ann’s hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She had 3 siblings. Her brothers Marvin Wright Sr., Mark Wright & her only sister Andrea Wright. Wendy was born smiling and continued smiling for the rest of her days. Her infectious dimples allowed her to instantly make anyone she met feel loved. Wendy was educated in the Cleveland Public School District attending Miles Standish Elementary, Margaret Spellacy Junior High and then in 1984 she graduated from Villa Angela Academy. While she attended Villa Angela Academy, she was a member of the Gospel Choir and The Drama Club. If there was one thing Wendy loved other than her family, it was the arts. She performed at East Cleveland Community Theatre for a few years during and after high school. Her favorite musical by far was The WIz. She loved to act, sing, dance & write. She was also an avid reader, her favorite authors being Toni Morrison & Maya Angelou. After high school Wendy attended the University of Akron studying Early Childhood Development. During her attendance her and her best friend Iris Butts joined the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc Sweethearts in November 1985 where they ran the yard. Wendy was and still is a child of God. The Wright family joined East Mt. Zion Baptist Church in her early years where her faith and belief in Jesus Christ became an integral part in her life. In her adult years she later joined the House of Jubilee Ministries where the congregation became a second family to her and did her the honor of becoming her village when raising her children. In 1988, Wendy married Milton Carthens Sr. and to this union were born two handsome sons Brandon Wesley Carthens in 1990 and Kyle Andrew Carthens in 1991. Wendy returned to Cleveland from Columbus to start her beloved occupation of being their mother. In 1996 Wendy married Obededom (Bo) Green and to this union her beautiful baby girl Amber Ashe Green was born in 1997. Her family was complete, and she finally had her own life size baby doll to take care of. Wendy was employed in various occupations before she answered her call of education. She worked as an administrative assistant, paralegal, Real estate, banking, & customer service. But by far in 2000 her true purpose became clear. She started out as a paraprofessional at Hope Academy Chapelside for 6 years where she taught 2nd and 4th grade. She then went to work for Cleveland Metropolitan School District where she was a paraprofessional at Wade Park Elementary, A.B Hart Elementary and of course her beloved Franklin D. Roosevelt Elementary where she learned her deeper calling into education was not just early childhood development but more specifically catering to special education. Wendy taught special education for 16 years. She taught non-verbal/ autistic children whom she loved dearly. She was the courageous voice of her children, she was patient and even though she may have endured many obstacles whether in her professional or personal life, nothing could ever keep her away from her FDR babies. It takes a special person to pour into children and Wendy was that person. Wendy also loved to bake, and she loved to feed her loved ones. Her most beloved dishes being her peach cobbler, mac & cheese, honey bun cake, pound cake, her peach Bellini iced tea and so much more. Wendy loved words and loved to journal. She was a poet in her own right and always kept a journal with her for whenever she felt inspiration. She would often say that her children are the best parts of her, and that she was Better Known As a mother. (BKA; Brandon, Kyle, Amber). She loved her children immensely; talking about them and doting on them often to whoever is in an ear shot heard how much she loved her babies. Brandon - her fearless first-born, Kyle her extremely talented actor and Amber, her princess. She had a plethora of quotes she would say on a daily basis whether they were scriptures from the bible or quotes from her favorite authors or poets. Wendy loved with intensity, wanting nothing more than for everyone she loved to feel safe, nurtured, loved, seen and heard. Wendy loved her family, her parents were the light of her world, her guides and her keepers. She spoke to them daily and always lifted them in prayer. She was also known as GiGi, and her grandchildren were her heart. Anyone who knew Wendy knew she loved to play cards and word games, and she was a loyal Clevelands Browns fan and would lovingly argue with anyone about it should you talk negatively about them. On the early morning of December 10th, 2024, Wendy was called home & God dispatched his angels. She is at rest, no more worries & no more pain. May she rest in peace until we meet again. She leaves to cherish her memories forever, her parents Andrew & Lillie Wright of Arlington, Texas. Her sons Brandon (Asja) Carthens, Kyle Carthens, & Steven White of Cleveland. Her daughters Amber Green of Cleveland & Ebone (Garland) Chapman of Maryland. Brother Mark (Renee) Wright of Cleveland & sister Andrea Wright of Fort Worth, Texas. She also leaves seven (7) grandchildren; Bryson, Pierson, Kase, Kamari, Jeremiah, Isaiah & Essence. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their children. She also leaves behind many close friends including her best friend, Iris Young and a host of family, friends and colleagues who will never forget her smile and her genuine spirit. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Brother Marvin Wright Sr., nephew Andrew Wiley Wright & her best friend/cousin Coretta White Boyd. Though her time with us was brief, Wendy’s light and love will live on forever in our hearts. Heaven has gained an angel & we will carry her memory with us always. Wendy, you will truly be missed.
