Tommie Clinton Obituary Tommie Clinton Sr. (known as Little Sunny) was born on January 15, 1936 in Meridia, Mississippi to Jessie and Viola Clinton, the fourth oldest of 13 children. While living there he attended Daleville School until the age of 17 where he then left the South and came up North to Detroit, Michigan, where he shined shoes. Lil Sonny was known to be a good dancer growing up. At an early age he confessed his life to Christ and remained a faithful servant serving as a Deacon at Second Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.In 1955, Tommie came to Cleveland, Ohio where he did odds and ends for work. Then he moved to Oakwood, Village where he began working for the Bedford City School District as a custodian for 38 years from where he retired. During this time he met Rutha Lee Rogers and in 1958 they were married and to the union four children were born: Valarie Warren, Loretta Clinton Doss, Tommie Clinton Jr. (LaShawn) and Duran Clinton. Tommie also enjoyed in his spare time gardening, riding his motorcycles, and helping others in the community. He also had his own snow plowing business. Tommie was also known for his great taste in clothing, for he was always dressed to impress whenever he went somewhere and along with that he always had a smile on his face.He leaves to mourn his children Valarie, Loretta, Tom Jr. (Lashawn) and Duran. Siblings: Abraham Clinton, Minnie Pearl Hardy, William Clinton, Sylvia Wilson, Sarah (Robert) Ankum, Essie (Wilson) Thomas, Earnest (Diane) Clinton, Hubert Clinton and Betty Ann Rogers. Eight grandchildren: Nicole (Emmanuel), Nikkita, Anthony, Daniel, Rikia,Tommie III, Brianne, and Keysean. Eight great-grandchildren: BryAnna, Ijah, Isaiah (Tay), Sienna, Ajah, TeAnna, Emmanuel Jr. (Ej) and Johari. And a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Rutha Lee Rogers; siblings: Johnny Clinton, Jessie Clinton Jr., and Arlean Peterson.
