Ruth Browder Obituary Ruth Ann Browder(née Harding) was born May 11, 1943 and was the second child to Raymond A. and Ruth A. Harding. She was fond of both parents but was especially a daddy‘s girl. Ruth was baptized as a child at her mother’s church, Cory United Methodist Church where she sang in the young adult choir, but later joined her father’s church, Mt. Zion Congregational Church, U.C.C. She was a charter member of the T.M.T.M. Juniors which started the Palm Sunday Dinner tradition at Mt. Zion. She was a Safiri Rites of Passage Elder and helped facilitate the Family Dinners. She also coordinated along with her sister, The Youth Group Annual Soul Food Dinners. Ruth began her acting career at the Karamu House in The King And I and performed in Remarkable Incident at Glenville High School. Ruth was especially elated when she was able to talk on the phone with her teenage crush, Sam Cooke. At the age of three Ruth began collecting autographs of celebrities and this continued for many years to come. At one time in her life she was an avid bowler who won numerous trophies over the years and appeared on the local television show Bowling For Dollars. Ruth graduated from Glenville High School and attended Central State University. She was married and divorced and had three children, Gregory A. Browder, Jocelyn M. Taylor (Browder) and Vicki Browder-Johnson. Her children were her joy and happiness. She demonstrated to them very strong work ethics and responsibility. She retired from the United States Postal Service after working there for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with her sister all over the country. In her spare time Ruth enjoyed sewing her own clothes especially fancy eveningwear and she also loved playing video games. In her final years she enjoyed new friendships made at the Gunning Recreation Center. Those special friends supported her through the end of her life. Ruth was a major benefactor and supporter of her family’s yearly reunion. As a mom, Ruth enjoyed giving her all for her children to make sure they were happy. As a single parent she was very supportive to her son as an active Boy Scout Den Mother. She was a PTA room mother in the schools. She was also financially supportive to her grandchildren with their extracurricular activities. Ruth loved taking care of her three children, three grandchildren, three granddogs and many cats. Ruth is survived by her son Gregory Alan Browder; daughter, Jocelyn Marie Taylor and spouse Kevin Taylor, daughter, Vicki Browder-Johnson and spouse Mark Johnson. Three grandchildren, Minister Jeffrey Williams, Gena Taylor and Vivian Johnson. A sister, Mary Banks. Nephews, Kenneth McDavid, Weldon McDavid, Jeremy Harding, Michael Harding. A great niece that preceded her in death, Brittany Johnson. A great nephew, Griffin McDavid and a great great nephew, Braylon Nelson. She is also survived by a host of many other cousins and relatives that she was very fond of.
