Robert McNeal Obituary Obituary Robert Lee McNeal was born in Gadsden, AL on June 30, 1942 to the late Katie McNeal. Robert was the second of three children. At the age of three, Robert’s mother met and married Josephus Brock who also preceded him death. Josephus raised all three children as his very own. Robert attended West Gadsen elementary school in Alabama City, AL where he was a member of the Speech Club. He went on to attend Carver High School where he joined the male choir, the Glee Club and was a very active member in student government and the male Social Club. Not only did Robert love to sing he excelled in his classes. He also became one of Carver’s best oral speakers. He won the Orator Award for his graduating class in 1960. Robert confessed Christ at an early age. He was baptized under the leadership of Rev. E.L. Gary of First Baptist Church in Alabama City, Al. He attended Sunday School and of course he sang in the choir before relocating to Cleveland, OH. Once Robert moved to Cleveland, he got a job at Alcola Aluminum where he worked until he retired. He then joined Starlight Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Edward Small. There he joined their choir also. In the early nineties Robert met and fell in love with Evelyn Corbett. They were married shortly after. During their marriage Robert and Evelyn enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. They spent many wonderful years and memories together. Robert was a joyful person. He could bring light to any room he entered. All of the children called him Uncle Robert along with many other nicknames. Robert departed this life for his heavenly home after a sudden illness on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Josephus and Katie McNeal -Brock and one brother Cleophus McNeal. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife Evelyn, his son, LaShone Dunn, two grandsons and one loving sister Mary Ann Brock of Atlanta, Ga, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
