Richard Kirks Sr. Obituary Mr. Richard Allen Kirks was born to the parents of Mrs. McCloud Kirks and Perry Kirks, Jr. in Cleveland, OH on September 13, 1955. He was the youngest of three children born to this union. Richard attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from high school. He worked for the Fire Department for a while. He retired from DayGlo Color Corporation in Cleveland. Richard attended the Greater Mt. Ararat Baptist Church where he worked as a custodian. Later, Richard moved to Laurel, MD in 2006. While there, he worked for the Federal Government. He also attended Greenbelt Baptist Church in Greenbelt, MD. In 2009, Richard moved to Texas and worked for the Austin State Hospital. Richard began to lose his eyesight while living in Texas. He returned to Cleveland in 2013. He started attending Church of Christ where he was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ on August 4, 2013. Later, Richard started attending the Cleveland Sight Center. On June 25, 2014, Richard united in holy matrimony to Mary Gooden and no children were born in this union. After marriage, Mary joined Richard on many trips in and out of state through the Cleveland Sight Center. His health continued to decline. Mary became his caretaker as his wife. Mr. Richard Allen Kirks passed away after a lengthy illness on June 3, 2024 at South Point Medical Center, Cleveland OH. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents, Mrs. McCloud Kirks and Perry Kirks, Jr., a brother, Charles Kirks, and another brother and sister whose names are unknown. Richard is survived by: a loving wife, Mary; an adopted sister Brenda Kirks and an adopted brother Khalil Abdullah, both of Cleveland, OH; two sons: Kirby Woods (Priscilla) and their children, Marissa, Destiny, and Kirby, Jr. all of Cincinnati, OH; and Lucious Woods and his children, Marchal J. Hyde, Laylia K. Walker of Cleveland, OH; a daughter, Tamika Kirks, and her children, Deshone, Damarious, and Deanna Kirks, Akron, OH; a step daughter, Minister Andra Allen Standberry, Raleigh, NC and her children, April V. Allen, Upper Marlboro, MD, Arami A. Allen (Sharmika), Landstuhl, Germany, and Ashley K. Standberry, Raleigh, NC; one step nephew, Ju-Junnica Gooden, Gulfport, MS; two brother-in-law’s, James Gooden, Jr, and Melven (Debbie) Gooden, both of McComb, MS; friends, Ricky Travick (Mattie), Sr., Cleveland, OH; Leonard Jackson (Marchelle W.), Cleveland, OH; Miles Jackson (Kate), Cleveland, OH; a special cousin, Felicia Coleman, Cleveland, OH, and a host of relatives, associates, and friends.
