Phoebe Pearson Obituary A Wonderful Life! Well Lived! Phoebe Betty Pearson was known for her beautiful smile and radiant personality. She had a rare gift and talent of determination, consideration, integrity, generosity and love for all. She was the heart of her family. Born on October 3, 1926 to John and Pearlie Harris in Tillar, Arkansas, Phoebe gave her life to Christ at an early age, She moved to Cleveland in 1943, was a graduate of John Hay Business High School in 1946, and later became “The Famed Queen” of Employee Relations at Stouffer’s Frozen Foods. Phoebe met her loving husband, Charles H. Pearson, while attending high school. During their 59 years of marriage, three lovely children were born….a daughter, Brenda Lorraine, and two sons, Steven Charles and Wil Preston. Charles preceded Phoebe in death, as well as both parents and her six siblings. She was the lone survivor of the family. Phoebe believed in family and also community service. She was a devoted member of the Craven Avenue Street Club and the Community Zone Board. She was a 30-year member of Mount Pleasant Community Council. Because of her service excellence to the mission of community safety and beauty, Phoebe was elected Mount Pleasant Community Council President. Phoebe and Charles were consistent winner of the Beautiful Block Contests and won many additional awards of service. One of the most valued accomplishments was the Humanitarian Award from Phoebe’s beloved employer, Stouffer’s Frozen Foods. Upon retirement, Phoebe joined Randall Mall Walking Group, Liz Shelton’s—Yes, I Can Dance Group and participated in many activities at the Fairhill Senior Center of Shaker Boulevard. Phoebe was honored as the Ebony Rose Businesswoman of 1995, sponsored by Murtis Taylor Multi-Service Center in Cleveland. During Phoebe’s golden years of life, she transferred from Cleveland to Macedonia, Ohio where she continued to form lasting and loving relationships with neighbors and friends. In Phoebe’s declining years, she was transferred to The Landing of Stow, an assisted living community. There she was the “Queen Bee”. She enjoyed many activities, worship services, games and entertainment. She especially enjoyed trips to casinos and her sisterhood with dear friend, Janice. Phoebe B. Pearson was a phenomenal woman. She loved people and helped many. She never met a stranger. She was loved by all the residents and the entire staff. Before taking her last breath, nearly all the caregivers visited with her to say a final farewell. Phoebe lived at The Landing of Stow since 2017. She will be truly missed. Phoebe leaves behind to celebrate her Heavenly Home Going; daughter, Brenda L. Cody; sons, Steven C. Pearson and Wil P. Pearson; two granddaughters, Dana C. Cody and Ebonee Pearson; three great grandchildren, Daniel Cody, Marquetta Pearson and Cameron Pearson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Affinity Missionary Baptist Church Family and friends. I’m following paths God made for me I took his hand I heard him call Then turned, and bid farewell to all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to sing, to play Tasks left undone must stay that way I found my peace…at close of play And if my parting left a void Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened…deep with sorrow I wish you sunshine of tomorrow My life’s been full I’ve savoured much Good friends, good times A loved one’s touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don’t lengthen it now with grief Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now…He set me free.
