Paul Black Jr. Obituary Paul W. Black Jr., lovingly known as “Big Dad” to his kids and grandkids, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 20, 1950 to the late Bernice Woodard and Paul W. Black Sr. Paul was raised in Cleveland, OH, where he attended Patrick Henry Jr. High- where he ran track and also attended Glenville High School. Paul was a hard-working man. He worked at Fisher-body car parts, before landing his full-time job at The Illuminating Company, as an Electrical Construction Maintenance worker. After 33 years, he retired in 2009. After retiring he took a short break, before getting a job to keep busy at The Q Arena in Environmental services, where he worked for 8 years. If you knew Paul, cleanliness is next to Godliness and he took much pride in making sure anything he did was immaculate. Paul met the love of his life, Monica in 1982 on a blind date, and they married August 27, 1984. Paul loved Cars!! He loved to go to dealerships just to look, often times schooling the young salesmen on cars. He was always up to date on cars. Even when he wasn’t in the market,he knew what the new and hot cars were and what cars were coming out. He enjoyed going to car shows in Detroit with his wife and also with his friends. In his later years of life, Paul accepted Christ and had a strong belief in God. Paul loved his family!! He was a hard person, with a tough shell,but good heart! He lived by a code and principles and he showed tough love. If you ever experienced a talk, or scolding from Paul-when you got over the hurt, you realized -it’s all love! On Monday, July 8th, 2024, God called Paul to Eternal Rest. Paul leaves to cherish his memory, His loving wife of 39 years:Monica. His Children: Sonya, Dartanyan, Catrice (Michael), Candice, and Paul. Brothers: Calvin and Eric. Grandchildren: Nyja, Sheldon, Noah Paul, Elijah, MaKenzi, Benjamin, Lyric, Chyna, Aziah, Tywan, Kayla, Rainah, Amelia, Amiyah, Paul II, Cherron, and Noah. Aunts: Jean Rudd, Johnnie Mae Jackson.
