Maxine Greene Obituary It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maxine Greene on October 31, 2024, at the age of 78. Maxine, a cherished sister and aunt, was known for her dedication to her family and her community. Maxine was born on April 7th 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is predeceased by her parents Harold and Ola Buford Greene and brother, Mervin Greene, and niece Lori Greene. She is survived by her niece Lisa Greene Schnabel and grand nieces and nephews Oscar , Leander and Sophie Schnabel. After graduating from Collinwood high school in 1964, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science at Baldwin-Wallace College. She then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Public Administration at The University of California in Los Angeles after which she worked for many years at the Port of Los Angeles. In 1987 she went back to school, this time attending Harvard University at the John F. Kennedy School of Government to earn another masters degree in Public Administration. She returned to the home that she loved, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1990 to start her career in grant writing and Public Development where she dedicated her knowledge and work to the community. Maxine enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a grant development coordinator for the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority and as a director of Resource Development at Murtis Taylor Human Services System. Through her work, she played an important role in securing funding that supported numerous housing initiatives and improving the lives of people in her community. Maxine was a proud and active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a lifelong affiliation that provided her with a network of sisterhood, service, and social activity. As a dedicated Golden Soror, Maxine exemplified the values of reliability and loyalty. She was a fashion and coffee connoisseur who loved driving her sports car. You knew Maxine was coming when you saw her Z car zooming around the corner. Maxine’s legacy is one of quiet strength, kindness, and commitment to her loved ones and her community. She will be remembered for her intellect, and the important sense of security she brought to her family members. She will be deeply missed.
