Lillie Reese Obituary Lillie Mae Reese went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Copley Health Center. The last living daughter of Mattie & Prince Amos of Chattanooga, Tennessee, the (6th) girl born on May 12, 1930. Lillie was one of 10 children born to this union. She completed 12 years of education in Chattanooga Tennessee. Lillie met and married Mr. Lewis Reese in Walker County, Georgia on June 17, 1950. Three children were born to this union: Frances, Larry and Patricia. The family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where they both found gainful employment. Lillie worked for years as a maid and retired from Cuyahoga Hills Boys Home as a Cook. She dedicated her life loving her family and extended family well through her acts of sacrificial service. Lillie was ingenious in her ability to help supplement her family's income, during a time when most black women were only permitted to do domestic work. Mama cleaned, cooked, ironed clothes and scrubbed floors on her knees. No task was beneath her in order to sustain her family. She was a faithful member of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, until her health no longer permitted her to attend. Mama enjoyed spending quality time with friends, shopping, going to the beauty shop and traveling back home to Chattanooga, Tennessee for family reunions. Lillie developed new interests as seasons of her life changed. Playing Bingo became her favorite activity at Copley Health Center.. She enjoyed watching the show "Blue Bloods, eating sweet watermelon and german chocolate cake with lots of pecans in the icing. Her favorite color was blue. Lillie had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable in her presence and you never left empty-handed. Her gracious, sacrificial love was so profound that Mama voluntarily gave one of her kidneys to her daughter Frances. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that a person would lay down his life for his friends". NASB Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis, her daughter Frances, her sisters: Lenora, Annie Maude, Margaret, Mildred, Mary Lou; brothers: Prince, Johnny, Charles and William James. She leaves to cherish her memory: Son: Larry Reese , Daughter: Min. Pat Reese, Only Grandson: Larry Barnes, Eight great-grandchildren and one she raised and shared a special bond with Adrian Barnes. Sister in Law (Lou Ella Amos), Nephew: Wallace (Shirley) Powers. Two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lifelong friends: Marian Elder and Bonnie Davis.
