Laquita Wise Obituary Laquita Loretta Wise was born to Monte A.C. Dujuambi and Fannie Mae Bell on July 8, 1932, and entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Cleveland, Ohio. Laquita graduated from Albion Area High School in Albi-on, PA., and matriculated from Mercyhurst College where she studied art, and then, Cleveland State University where she studied Elementary Education. Laquita worked for 35 years at the University Hospital of Cleveland in various departments but her longest tenure was as a Lab Technician for the Department of Pathology from which she retired. Laquita accepted the Lord as her savior in 1960 at Chris-tian Pentecostal Assembly Inc., under the leadership of Elder Herman Cummings, where she worshipped faithfully for over 40 years before moving to Buffalo, NY., where she faith-fully attended Faith Bible Tabernacle Church, Inc. under the leadership of her beloved son-in-love the late Bishop Nathan S. Halton. She could be heard singing her favorite song, “Every time I turn around, God keeps blessing me”. Laquita married Ozell Wise on April 16, 1975, who preceded her in death in 1985. Together, they traveled the country visiting family and friends. Laquita was a family woman. She was a loving and faith-ful mother to two children , Antoinette Marie and Howard Anthony. She enjoyed hearing her son “Sonny Boy”, “Anthony” play the guitar and she attended several of his performances and she loved attending and participating at “Her daughter a.k.a. “Preacher Lady /Antoine” Women’s Conferences and was in attendance for nearly everyone. In the summers, she would spend time in Lansing, Michigan with her great grands, Christian who assisted her in getting around and played Phase 10 with her, and Harper who kept her entertained; playing games with her, doing crafts, and giving her customized mani & pedi’s. Laquita was a woman of many gifts and talents, from cooking and drawing to singing and crocheting. She’d make hats, dolls, and afghans, making sure that each of us had one. Laquita loved music but favored mostly blues and gospel singers like Mahalia Jackson and the Gaither Singers were some of her favorites. She was an artist extraordinaire, but cartoon characters seemed to have been her favorite, and at any given church service, while taking her Bible notes, she was also drawing characters of some of the saints! She had beautiful brown eyes, an infectious smile, a quick wit, and a quirky sense of humor that made everyone who met her fall in love with her. Laquita loved “hotel living” and traveling visiting favorite spots like Las Vegas, Charlotte, and Lansing, Michigan. The highlight of her travels was on her 75th birth-day when her number one son and daughter took her to her father’s home in Jamaica to finally meet her family there. Laquita was NEVER LATE so her time of transition was right on time! Having set all things in order, she finished her physical therapy, and doing things HER WAY, she kept her appointment with heaven and as she always said when she hung up the phone, “I Love You Too”, “Okay Bye!” Laquita leaves to cherish her memory, daughter; Antoi-nette Halton-Singleton, son; Howard (Veloria Ann) Church-well, sister-in-law; Jackie Dujue, 8 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Laquita is preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Mae Bell and Monte A.C. Dujuambi, her husband; Ozell Wise, brother; Monte Dujue, sisters; Mona Southerland and Melina Reed.
