John Alston Obituary Obituary I am the resurrection and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, Yet shall he live.” John 11:25 John Evans Alston (69) affectionally known as Johnny Boy or JB was born in Painesville, Ohio on June 22, 1954 to the late Clinton Adam Alston and Thelma Bernice Alston. He was the third child of 8 children born to this union. His parents divorce when John was a small child. John was raised by his father and step-mother (Bonus Mom) Mary Meeks. John attended public school in Painesville, Ohio. John was employed at the Puritan Bakery for many years. John enjoyed baking donuts and sweet watering pastries. John enjoyed watching football and his favorite team was the Cleveland Browns. He often wore his brown and orange jersey and enjoyed a cold brew (40 ounce) while watching his favorite team with family and friends. Another favorite past-time of JB was riding his 3-wheel bike. He rode his bike up and down Prospect Street and to the local store. Heck, he was all over Painesville on his 3-wheel bike. As an adolescence, John played in a band with his brother Steve. He was the drummer while his sisters were backup singers and dancers. John was skilled at beating those drums. He played the drums in the basement at home and at the local YMCA and various events. John was a kindhearted and friendly man, always laughing and smiling. He enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John often said “life is short, time is winding down and we should spend more time together and enjoy each other.” Johnnie Boy departed this life on Sunday, December 3, 2023 after a brief illness. John was a child of the “Most High” God and he loved the Lord. John was preceded in death by his father, the late Clinton A. Alston, 3 brothers, Clinton Lamar Alston, Charles Ray Alston and Steve Alston, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his beloved mother, Thelma B. Alston, (four) sisters: Thelma M. Alston, Charlean Alston, Carlean Thompson and Hazel L. Alston-Bey and his “bonus mom” Mary Jefferies. John Evans Alston also leaves to cherish his precious memory, his six children: daughter – Ellenann Aikens (Dennis Craig), Sons: Terry Gibson, John Evans Gibson (Jacqueline), Daughter – Angela Tamala Alston, Son – Brandon Lee Gibson (Alexandra), and Son – Cory Alston (Samantha); and host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbors, family and friends.
