Jesse Johnson Obituary OBITUARYJesse James Johnson Jr. was born July 18, 1935 in Boyle Mississippi. He was the first child of Jesse Elijah Johnson Sr, and Fannie Hall Johnson both deceased. Jesse attended elementary school in Mississippi in 1952 and graduate from Cleveland Colored High School May 28, 1956. The following year on March 21 1957, Jesse enlisted into the Army and was discharged March 19, 1960. After discharged from the Army In the 1960. Jesse left and headed to Cleveland OH were, he met Yvonne Harris and on May 9, 1962 they were married. From this union, a daughter Yvette A. Johnson was born. Jesse entered school in March 1973 at the Westside Institute for Refrigeration heating and cooling (HVAC) and graduated September 1974. Then Jesse reenlisted into the Army Reserve January 12, 1978 and retired July 18, 1995. Jesse lived out his career as 2nd shift supervisor in refrigeration at Stouffer's (Nestle's) before retiring in (1997). In 1989 Jesse joined Aldersgate United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Walter Willis. Jesse was a very active church member and because he loved to sing and once was a member of a gospel group called "Clouds of Joy", he used this experience to joined the Chancel and Cantata Choirs. He was also active in other church ministries like the Senior Men's Usher Board, Finance Committee, The United Methodist Men, Church van driver, Parking lot attendant, fish fry cook so he could lend a helping hand. Jesse was preceded in death his (wife) Yvonne Harris Johnson, his (parents) Jesse Elijah Johnson Sr, Fannie Hall Johnson, (brother) William Earl Johnson, (Stepmother) Katherine Johnson, and (Stepfather) Phil Haywood. He leaves to cherish his memory his (daughter) Yvette A. Johnson-Hawkins, (granddaughter) Jessica Nicole Hawkins (sister) Kathryn B. Weston, (sister in law) Alberta Free (John) (sister in law) Sandra Johnson, (Aunt) Dottie MayHall, (special friend) Curley JoAnn Reed, and a host of Nieces, and Nephew's cousins and other relatives and friends.
