Janice Haley Obituary In Loving Memory:Janice Christine Haley was called Home on June 18, 2017 after 85 years on this earth. She was the beloved wife of the late attorney, businessman and educator, Donald C. Haley, and mother of Randle, Gordon and Steven. Janice, the daughter of Baptist minister, the Rev. James Wilson, was a pillar of the community in service to others especially the elderly and the less fortunate. She attended Mount Vernon College in Washington, D. C. and, as a young woman, was employed by Ohio Bell as well as the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Among her numerous activities and interests were the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church where she was a senior member, the Cleveland Playhouse Foundation, Law Wives of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Celestial Singers Senior Choir, which traveled the country and the world, including singing before Pope John Paul II. As to the last noted activity, Janice was a concert-level vocalist having sung in church choirs since childhood. Janice particularly loved reading books of all kinds, especially novels, traveling, African art and learning about African and African American history. She was particularly interested in politics and took tremendous pride in witnessing the election of Barack Obama, American's first African American president. She was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois where she met Donald, who was her high school sweetheart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
