James Willis Obituary James Wesley Willis Sr. was born on October 18, 1942 in Griffin, Georgia to Myrtice and James Willis. He was the oldest sibling of eight children. His parents and one brother, Charles Bernard Willis and sister, Margaret McDaniel preceded him in death. After an extended illness, "Our Angel" peacefully went home on September 11, 2017.He was educated in McDonough, Georgia and graduated from Henry County Training School.James accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia.James moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1961 where he met Carolyn Mitchell and they were united in holy matrimony on December 29, 1962. To this union, two children were born. Later in life two children were adopted. They shared 49 years of marriage before Carolyn preceded him in death.James first job in Cleveland was as a sanitation worker for the City of Euclid. Shortly, thereafter he found employment with the United States Postal Service. He remained with the post office for 35 years retiring as a manager of Noble Shore station in 2002. James loved to bowl and had several 300 game rings under his belt. His other love was cooking and traveling to visit his family whom he had great love for. He also had a passion for Cadillacs and Corvettes. James was a father figure to many, especially his grandchildren who spent countless hours with him. "Willis" as he was known by many was loved by all who knew him. His kind and caring nature made him a favorite among friends. James leaves to cherish his beloved memory: one son, James H. Willis (Levonya); daughters, Monique and Brianna, Charisse Willis all of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Dr. Martha Taylor (Fletcher), Prentice Whitner (John); three brothers, Tommy Willis (Hazel), John Willis (Barbara), Terry Willis (Francis); sister-in-law, Sheryl Willis of Griffin, GA; nine-grandchildren; three-great-grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
