George Gordon Jr. Obituary George Joseph Gordon Jr. "Joe", son of the late Joe and Louise Gordon, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, October 12, 1940. He was the only son of four children. Joe graduated from John Adams High School where he excelled in math, track, and football. On June 3, 1961, Joe married Bettye Ann Williams, to that union they had two children, Joey and Wendy. In later years Joe welcomed his third child Blake, making this a family union of three wonderful children. Once settled the family moved to Shaker Heights to raise their children. In earlier years Joe was part of Gear Jammers and the First and Ten football club where he and his buddies had season tickets to the Cleveland Browns. They were diehard fans! Year after year they would root for the Browns win or lose. Joe joined the GWRRA Northshore Wings – Chapter H2 Ohio, motorcycle club where he traveled locally and out of state forming friendships with other motorcycle club members. Joe had many hobbies; music, racing cars, bowling, exotic fish, and motorcycles. When he would visit his daughter Wendy in Maryland, he would always stop at the local fish store to see what was new or different from what he already had. Joe was a dedicated husband and loving father. He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider to his family. He had several jobs through the years, but he spent most of his adult life working for Warner & Swasey Company as a machinist for over twenty-two years. He was employed with them until they closed their doors in 1984. Once Warner & Swasey closed Joe helped his son Joey with his trucking company, providing physical support and knowledge. Joe started a new career working at RTA as a driver. He retired from RTA in 2007. Being fortunate to retire and enjoy life Joe spent quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe took many visits to Maryland to visit with his daughter Wendy and her family. He had the pleasure to drive cross country with his daughter Blake when she relocated from California to North Carolina. During his last year, his son Joey would take him to Frederick’s where he enjoyed listening to various bands play. Joe leaves behind a wife Bettye Gordon, his three children Joey (Zelda) Gordon, Wendy (Seaton) Woody, and Blake Gilliam; five grandchildren, Briana, Ryan (Ola), Max, Aaron, and Taylor; five great grandchildren, Yazmeen, Phanci, Carter, Aya and Halston; two siblings Edna Hayes, and Barbara (Ben) Williams; a mother in-law Decie Williams and a host of brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces and nephews and special forever friends!
