Elizabeth (Lillie) Waterford

Elizabeth Waterford Obituary Elizabeth "Lillie" Waterford was born on July 18, 1927 to the union of Joe and Alberta Johnson in Opelika, AL. She was one of 8 children. Lillie passed away on September 4, 2018 as a result of an illness she endured for many years. As a young woman, she moved to Cleveland, OH where she married and raised her family. Lillie was employed at the Eliza Jennings Nursing Home for many years as a Nursing Assistant where she retired from after many years of service. She was an active member of St. Malachi Catholic Church and was often visited by many staff and clergy because she was a loved and valued member of the church. Lillie was the beloved mother of Pamela Babbitt, Capretta McGuire (Bennie C.), Charmaine Simmons (Eddie), Kenneth Waterford (Bridget Hale Waterford) and Scott Campbell (Jennifer Jordan, fiancé). She was the beloved grandmother of Cynthia Fritz, Christina Vincent, Michelle Babbitt, Christopher Russell, Charlotte Russell, Clarence Russell, Jr., Allan Smith, April, Shelby, Eric and Erica Campbell, great-grandmother to a myriad of others, dear sister of Reginald Johnson (Jan) and aunt of many precious nieces and nephews. Although Lillie will be remembered for many things, she will best be commemorated for her sense of humor and her ability to bring you to laughter. She was a great conversationalist, especially over coffee. She was known for keeping it real and she was always honest. Lillie sacrificed many things to make certain her children had all that they needed because her children were her greatest love. We always felt loved. She was an avid reader and music lover. She loved Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones. She especially enjoyed making potato salad and barbeque sauce for summer holidays but she loved Christmas most of all. Lillie was an expert gardener.
