Ms. Edna M. Myers

Edna Mae Rowe was born December 14, 1941 in Augusta, Arkansas to Otha Lee Rowe, Sr and Mazola Roddy Rowe. She was the first born of seven children. In 1959 she graduated from Carver Senior High School in Augusta, Arkansas and moved to Cleveland, Ohio at age 18. She pursued an education in bookkeeping and accounting and eventually became a financial counselor for the City of Cleveland for 30 years. She retired in May, 2003 receiving honors and recognition for her hard work and dedication. Her Christian journey started as a child at St. Luke Baptist Church in Augusta, Arkansas. She joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church in 1963 and married William H Myers becoming Edna Mae Myers. Alt-hough they parted ways in marriage in 1976 they vowed to raise their children together as one family in one church. She was an impeccable example. She had spiritual gifts of wisdom, discernment, hospi-tality, giving, mercy, faith, and service. She took hospitality to a new level when she invited Sis Sarah Eppinger to move in. She also had the gift of putting a couple of four letter words together that made you laugh out loud, but not sure that was spiritual. Neither was her luck on those blazing 7s. She used her financial and bookkeeping skills to work on the Finance Committee at New Mount Zion for many years. She loved music, was a talented singer and was the President of the Senior Choir for many years. None of the above held a match to her ability to prepare a meal that would make Wayne Dawson on Channel 8 News announce it was the best soul food he ever had. She and her sister Dot (aka Thelma and Louise) made record setting sales and fund raisers as co-directors of the Food Ministry. She did not care if you wanted a baked potato or not, you were going to buy one; the ques-tion was how many? Don’t expect to get a refund if she ran out, she would say “it’s a fund raiser.” She served God vigorously, with all her might. She was a true nurturer; from God’s vegetation and flowers to his children. Everyone who came in her space loved her instantly. You just couldn’t help yourself. It was the light of Jesus in her eyes and the permanent smile on her face. She was Momma, Granny, TT, Sis, Edna Mae, Sis Myers and friend to so many. She leaves to mourn her passing: daughter Teresa Myers, son William Myers II (Katrina), bonus daugh-ter/grand LaKeasha Means (DeAuntay), bonus daughter/grand Sharea Means, sisters Dorothy Rowe, Geneitha Rowe, Doris (Rea) Rowe, Betty Rowe, brothers Otha Rowe, Jr and Cal Rowe. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Deaundra Myers, Anfernee Myers, KeVauntay (Spud) Means, Aunjoli My-ers, Miriam Myers, Kendal (Bubba) Scott, Michael (Pie) Barber III. Nieces: Dorothy Jackson, Alice Jack-son, Wanda Jackson, Natasha Lewis, Shonte(Tay) Biggers, Sierra Proby, Amiya Lewis, Makiya Johnson and Ava Lewis. Nephews: Elgin Rowe, Augustus Lewis (Angel), Nicolas Rowe, Marcus Rowe, Trevon Rowe, Martre Rowe. Son-in-law: Theodore Means. Daughters from another mother: Debra Hubbard, Brenda Tolbert, Annette Hubbard and Rachel Myers. Sons from another mother: Richard Hubbard, Jr, Tony Hubbard, Jason Myers, and Byron Myers (Jaleesa). Sister from another mother: Janice Isaac. Bonus grandchildren: Tracy, William, and Shaniya Isaac, Paris Knowles, Jason Myers (little Jason), Julie Smith, and Taj Anthony Ward. She also leaves a host of great nieces/nephews, cousins, God-children, other relatives, friends and her New Mount Zion Church family. She will join in heaven: her mother Mazola Roddy Rowe, her father Otha Rowe, Sr, her daughter Jean Robin Myers Means, and a host of New Mount Zion Saints gone on before her.
