Doris Wagner Obituary Doris Wagner was born in Hammond, Louisiana to Norwood and Estella Griffin on February 9, 1922. Doris was the second child of their union and had a half-brother from Estella’s second marriage. Doris and her older brother, Leroy Griffin were sent to Mississippi to live with their grandfather when Estella remarried. Mississippi is where she met Willie Wagner and fell in love. They were married in 1938. To this union 11 children were born: James l. Wagner (Johnnie), Augustine Washington (Mylie, deceased), Annette Wagner (deceased) Cornelius Wagner (deceased) (Mary Francis), Willie D. Wagner (Florence), Jerry L Wagner, (deceased) (Debra), Norwood Wagner (deceased), Larry Wagner (Carol), Patricia A Wagner (Jameel), Gregory L Wagner and Mark A Wagner (Anne). Willie and Doris moved their family to Cleveland, Ohio in 1955. Doris worked for the Cleveland Municipal School System and retired after years of employment. Doris accepted the Lord at the age of 7 and raised her children to honor and accept the word of God, professing Christ as our Lord and Savior. She was a lifelong member of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Gospel Choir, Sunday School, Nurse’s Guild, Pastor’s Aid, President and later as the Mother of the Church. Doris was truly one of the Lord’s masterpieces, one-of-a-kind treasure. She prayed daily for each of her children and their children, calling out each name specifically to be blessed. Doris departed this life on September 22, 2024 at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Wagner, (1984) brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Wagner (Juanita), Jerry Wagner, and sister-in-law, Viola Wagner. Parents, Norwood and Estella Mosely, her brothers, Leroy Griffin and Johnny Crain, sons, Cornelius (Mary Frances), Jerry L. (Debra) and Norwood Wagner, daughter, Annette Wagner and son-in law, Mylie Washington. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: 5 sons, James L. (Johnnie), Willie D. (Florence), Larry (Carol), Gregory L. and Mark A. (Anne) and 2 Daughters, Augustine Washington, Patricia (Jameel) and daughters-in-law Mary Frances Wagner and Debra Wagner. Twenty-one grandchildren, 35 great-grands and 3 great-great-grands, sister-in-law, Juanita Wagner and a host of family members and friends.
