Daisy McLemore

Daisy McLemore Obituary Daisy McLemore was born in Douglas, GA on August 6, 1918 to the late Eliza B. and Oliver Wells. She was the eldest of three children. Her siblings Verdell Boyd and Charlie Wells preceded her in death. As sharecroppers, they raised livestock and grew cotton, tobacco and other crops. At the age of 18, she married Cleveland McLemore, a high school teacher. They had six children, Willie, Bernice, Curtis, James 9deceased), Laverne (deceased) and Tyrone. After marriage, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1942. She raised a family and did many odd jobs including house cleaning and working at a factory that made shells for WWII. She later studied nursing at Cleveland State and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She enjoyed nursing because she liked to help people. She accepted Christ at an early age inspired by her maternal grandmother, Mattie Munson. She has been a devoted Christian since then. She has been active at Community A.M.E Church for over 70 years. She was President of the Lena E. Smith Missionary Society, President of the Pastor's Aide Committee, Secretary of Gospel Chioir, Chaplain of Stewardess Board, member of Senior Choir, Usher, Bible Study, Church School and any other place she could help. One of her greatest experiences was going to Jerusalem for 2 weeks. She loved serving the Lord and helping others. She enjoyed her family and being around the young children. She always had a positive attitude and would find good in everyone; however, she would tell you if she thought you were doing something wrong., Her motto was "By trusting in the Lord, I can do the things I do" On February 12, 2024 the Lord said it's time to come home. She was preceded in death by a daughter Laverne McLemore Hill and son, Rev. Dr. James McLemore. To cherish her memory are her survivors: one daughter, Bernice McLemore Campbell, Cleveland, OH and three sons, Dr. Willie McLemore (Bessie) Evans, GA, Curtis McLemore, Cleveland, OH and Tyrone McLemore, Cleveland, OH. 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and 3 great- great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
