Charles Spicer,Sr. Obituary CHARLES HOWARD SPICER SR., was born April 15, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, the second oldest son. His parents Lorenzo Sr. and Helen B. Spicer, oldest brother Lorenzo Spicer, Jr. and daughter Karen L. Clay, son Larry B. Spicer, grandson Geoffrey Owens preceded him in death. He attended Cleveland Public School and later graduated from East Technical High went on in 1951 join the United States Army. On January 1954, united in holy matrimony with Carmen L. Rainey to this union were five children. Ssgt. Charles H. Spicer, Sr. did one tour in Korean, two tours in Greenland and was station at several Forts in United States, later two tours in Vietnam before he retired in 1979 from Ft. Campbell, Ky. During his tours he serviced in Unit Supply, Food Service and Club Management. He departed this life Friday. September 15, 2023 at hospice at Home. Charles leaves to celebrate his memory his wife of 69yrs Carmen, two sons Richard Sr. and Charles Jr., two daughters Sheila and Deanne Spicer-Vance (Dean), brother Kenneth Spicer, Sr. (Carolyn) and sister Karen Pierce (Carl), son in law Carl Clay. Ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was a Military man, which inspired all his sons and a grandson to become Military men and all served Honorably. Charles believed in discipline, and was very regimented, everything had a order and place which we all respected. Dad was fondly called Charley by his brother and sister and some friends. Grandchildren and close friends nick-named him shorty round, he was always the life of the party willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He believed in good service and people having pride in caring out their job. Dad had no problem rewarding someone who completed their task to his standards. Dad may have been in Hospice but he was strong, independent, and wanted to remain self-sufficient to the end. Dad had a lot of pride and dignity and didn’t tolerate any nonsense, if he had to use some choice words he didn’t hesitate. He said what he said and meant what he said period. Charley as his brother and sister called him, had no worries growing up because he was the protector and everyone knew he didn’t think twice about protecting his family. Charley, Daddy, Shorty Round, Charles, Tattoo will be missed greatly, he was our rock and he impacted all our lives in someway, his legacy lives within us and we are proud to be a Spicer.
