Born on September 12, 1941, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, Chuck embarked on a journey that would lead him to touch countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and adventurous spirit. On July 7, 2024, at the age of 82, Chuck passed away peacefully in Cleveland, OH, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and excellence. Chuck was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sharon Gorman Bremer, and a loving father to his son, Tarrance Norris. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Joseph Bremer Sr. and Elizabeth Gertrude Randolph Bremer, his brothers Eugene Joseph Bremer Jr. survived by his wife Francine, Ernest L. Bremer survived by his wife Helen, Alonzo Bremer, and his sister Belinda Joyce Bremer Hunter survived by her husband William. He is survived by his sister Darlene Bremer Porch, his sister Karen Dixon and her husband Anthony, his brother Julius Jerome Bremer, and a host of cherished nieces and nephews from the Bremer and Yates families. Chuck’s early church life started at Lane Metropolitan CME church, that continued until its cessation. He taught Sunday School and maintained the grounds around the original church building for as long as he was physically able. An alumnus of East Technical High School, Chuck received All City honors for playing football, in Cleveland, OH, Chuck's thirst for knowledge and his drive for excellence propelled him to further his education at Ohio University on a Football Scholarship, where his leadership skills shone brightly as a founder of the Ebony Bobcats Network and a charter member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Sigma Psi Chapter. His academic journey continued through graduate studies at Kent State University, Southern Illinois University, and Rutgers University, equipping him with the tools to make a substantial impact in the realms of community planning and social action. Chuck's illustrious career was a testament to his unwavering commitment to social justice and empowerment. As a teacher for the Cleveland Ohio Public Schools, he sowed seeds of knowledge and hope. His leadership roles with the Worker Defense League, A Philip Randolph Education Fund, International Union of Electronics Workers, National Black Caucus of State Legislators, and the Roadway Technician Training Program reflect a life dedicated to advocacy, education, and community development. During that employment, Chuck worked with great leaders like Ernest Green, Bayard Rustin, and A. Philip Randolph. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to co-own Contini's, a men's fashion store, showcasing his multifaceted talents and business acumen. A prolific contributor to newsletters and publications, Chuck's voice resonated in the corridors of change. His presentations, such as the affirmative action paper to Blacks in Government and his role as a convener at the African American Summit in Washington D.C., were pivotal in advancing political awareness and civil rights. His work was recognized with numerous accolades, including the National A. Philip Randolph Achievement Award and the National Excellence in Political Awareness Award from the Alaska Black Caucus, among others. Chuck's zest for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. A skilled chess player, he engaged in strategic battles of the mind with friends and competitors alike. His athletic prowess was evident as he competed in the Senior Olympics in Las Vegas, NV, and his passion for roller skating brought joy and laughter to those around him. Chuck's commitment to "Unlimited Boundaries for Helping Others" was not just a motto, but a way of life. In every interaction, Chuck exuded a kind and generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His adventurous nature inspired many to step beyond their comfort zones and reach for the stars.
