Beulah Taylor Obituary On the evening of July 23, 2024, Beulah Mary Taylor (Crawford) passed away from natural causes. Beulah was comforted by family at the time of passing at the Maltz Hospice Care Facility in Beachwood, Ohio. She was 95 years old. Beulah was born on September 25,1928 to Christopher and Margaret Crawford in Daleville, Mississippi. The family left Mississippi during the time of The Great Migration settling in the Midwest. Her mom took her and her older siblings to live and attend school in Hudson, Ohio. From Hudson they moved to Cleveland in the mid 1940’s. Beulah graduated from Glenville high school in 1947. She then went to vocational school where she received her nursing degree as an RN. Always having an independent spirit, Beulah left Cleveland in 1959 for California which became her home for the next 60 years. Living in Yorba Linda, California, a suburban community outside of Los Angeles, Beulah met Ernest Taylor and they were wed. Beulah and Ernest had a son, Derrick Taylor. They were married for 32 years. Beulah was the ultimate sports fan spending many days attending baseball, basketball, and football games. She loved the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and the Los Angeles Lakers. She was an avid bowler and belonged to several bowling leagues in Ohio and California. Beulah loved playing board games or joining in on the family Bid Whist games. She also really enjoyed horse racing. Her son Derrick was a professional sports photographer and she enjoyed joining him at sporting events where he captured prize winning photos of soccer players and other athletes. These photos were published in California publications such as the LA Times and Los Angeles Sentinel. Beulah changed careers and began working for the Social Security Administration in 1986. He retired from this agency in 2002. After the passing of her son Derrick, Beulah longed to be near family and her ailing sister and returned to live in Cleveland in 2008. Unfortunately, her sister LaVerne passed away that same year. Upon her return she joined family members and attended Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where she sang soprano in the adult choir. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Margaret, her siblings; Christopher Crawford Jr, Bryant Crawford, Green Harden, LaVerne Walk, Robert Crawford Sr, her son Derrick Taylor, her nephew Kenneth R. Walk Sr. and her great niece Deanna Boswell. She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews: Ada Irene Beville (Woodrow), Judith Thigpin, Deborah Cobbin (Frank, d), Robert Crawford Jr, Charles Crawford, Adrienne Reed (Charles), Lisa Walk and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
