Mr. Willie George Bailey

HOMEGOING SERVICES FOR WILLIE GEORGE BAILEY Aka, BUDDY Sunrise: August 7, 1948 Sunset: January 9, 2017 Willie George Bailey (68) was born to the late Levert Bailey Sr. & Lillian Gates-Bailey. He was born in Brent Alabama, the second son of three boys. Willie, affectionately known as “Buddy,” graduated from John Adams High School in 1967. Shortly after graduating high school, Willie served his country for 2 years in the United States Army, from May 11, 1968 to September 6, 1970. Willie served as Pvt. E2, and received an honorable discharge. His awards and accomplishments, while he served in the U.S. Army, are N.D.S.M., the National Defense Service Medal, and “Sharp Shooter” with the rifle M14. He was stationed in Frankfort, Germany; after returning home, he found employment with Alcoa in Cleveland, for 40 years. This was another milestone in his life being employed with one job, after his military service, for 40 years and retiring at the age of 59. What a huge accomplishment. Willie was a man who stayed to himself, he was a loner. Some of things he absolutely loved to do was travel down south to see his family in Alabama, he truly was a family man. He loved his brothers, he loved all his family, and could tell you about all their accomplishments. You could tell he had a big heart for his family. Just have a conversation with him, he would go for hours about his family. If you couldn’t find him at work or at home, then 99% of the time he was in Alabama. He loved to go south in September for the “Foot Wash” festival. He loved watching sports, relaxing at home, and a good cookout with family and friends. He truly was a very quiet and humble man. Willie is preceded in death by his Parents Levert Bailey Sr. and Lillian Bailey; Uncle, James Gates Sr.; Aunts, Lillian Gates and Vera Jenkins. Willie leaves to cherish his memory his Brothers, Levert Bailey Jr and Jesse (Yolanda) Bailey; Sister -in-law, Joanne Bailey; Uncles, James Bailey & JD Bailey, both of Brent Alabama; Aunt, Mary Jenkins of Queens New York; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A special thank you to his lifelong friends, Patricia Caddell and Leotis Caddell Jr.
