William Younger Obituary “Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope” Please hold onto your fondest memories of my brother William… On Sunday, October 4, 2020, William Allen Younger passed-away suddenly and peacefully in his sleep, two months shy of his 71st birthday. He will be sorely missed by family, friends, and neighbors. William was born on December 15, 1949 in Grafton, West Virginia. He was the middle child between two sisters. He happily got into trouble with his older sister and protected his younger sister. He grew up in Cleveland, OH and had a passion for football, making the first string of the Glenville High School team. He was recognized by the Plain Dealer as one of the area’s top players. He grew up with best friends who became brothers to him – Dale and Czerny amongst the closest. William was outgoing and cared about others, he spent several years leading the Morison Avenue Street Association helping to keep the streets clean and safe. Always he worked with neighbors, businesses, and politicians to improve services. He loved music and was known as a good singer, dancer, and performer. He could DJ with the best of them. His collection of R&B made many a party. He also loved to garden outdoors and indoors with plants adorning his apartment that were much admired by his guests. He was an avid reader, so much so that his neighbors called him “professor”; he was always seen reading the paper. magazine or book. He was blessed by many friends at Kingsbury Towers who he watched out for from his balcony – Daphne, Brenda, Margaret, and Dolores in the office are but a few. William was preceded in death by his sister Esther and his beloved son Allen. He is survived by his children, Tabitha Younger and Billy Brewton, his sister Laura, his niece Camille and great niece Laura and her children, his God grandchild Cortez, also dozens of cousins. Friends are encouraged to post their condolences and testimonials here in the guest book. Family will be presenting a donation to Glenville High School in William’s remembrance and encourage others to do so. William wished to have his ashes spread in Grafton, West Virginia where his wishes will be carried-out before the anniversary of his passing.
