William Head Sr. Obituary William Pitts " Tuby" Head was born on December 24,1918 in Jackson, Georgia, to Henrietta and John Head. The family, together with older brother George, lived in several states before settling in Cleveland, Ohio. Tuby and George were educated in the Cleveland Public School system, where Tuby learned to play the violin. After leaving school and joining the workforce,he met and married Eleanor Thompson. From that union, two sons were born; John W."Bucky" Head and William P." Billy" Head,Jr..Tuby served in the United States Naval Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1943 to 1946.Upon being honorably discharged, he went to work for CTS as a bus driver for several years. Tuby held a variety of positions during his working career, including shoemaker, construction worker, truck driver, and pipe fitter. Tuby married Gloria Hinkle in 1952.Gloria and Tuby lead a very active social life and traveled extensively In the United States.They especially loved New York and Las Vegas. Tuby retired from the East Ohio Gas Company after 25 years of service at the age of 88.However, he didn't stop there. He went to work for the Durham Brothers Construction Company and for William Wolf & Company, delivering autoparts, until the age of 90. Tuby enjoyed gardening, cooking, driving and watching his game shows ( The Price is Right and Family Feud).His favorite TV shows were This Old House, Pawn Stars and Counting Cars. He loved socializing with family and friends. He could be seen on his riding lawn mower, cutting his grass(until last year).He also would cut grass for his neighbors in their adjoining backyards, for several years. Tuby lost his beloved wife Gloria, after 63 years of marriage, on May 23 of 2015 and was lovingly cared for by his nephew, Anthony Burton. In October of 2016,his neice, Deborah,came to live with him and provided caregiving services. Tuby was still very active, however, and attended, with Deborah and other family members, Red Lobster dinners, shopping trips, casino outings, plays, boat rides, and concerts ( Cain Park, House of Blues, Tri-C, etc).Last year, Tuby was able to fulfill a dream on his Bucket List- to return to Las Vegas. With The assistance of his nieces and grandson, he toured Las Vegas and visited the sets of Pawn Stars and Counting Cars.
