William P. Head Jr.

William Head Jr. Obituary William P. Head, Jr. was born to Eleanor E. and William P. Head, Sr. on February 9, 1941 and he was lovingly given the nickname Billy. He had one older brother, John W. “Bucky” Head and one younger brother Michael T. Woodard. Billy attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from East Technical High School in 1959. He met Raychele P. Glass and they married October 6, 1962 and two children were born to them, William P. Head, III and Michele D. Head. After an amicable divorce they remained friends until her death in August of 2016. Billy began his occupational career working for the Cleveland Public Library, which he enjoyed because of his love for books. Then he got the call that he had passed the exam for the US Postal Service, which came just as he was beginning his new family. He worked for many years as a route carrier, and if you know Billy you know that he loved walking his route and setting his own schedule. And towards the end as a Supervisor. After retirement, he spent a short time working at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was while working at the Post Office that, Billy had the joy and pleasure of meeting the love of his life, Jacqueline Bettis. They got married on December 24, 1982. He and Ma-Ma, as she was affectionately called, spent many years enjoying each other’s company, taking trips with family and friends, entertaining and loving on each other’s children as though they were their own. Billy was charming and fun-loving, he loved music, and would pass the time listening to jazz with his son Corky.He was also an avid reader, found old western movies very entertaining and particularly enjoyed talking on the phone to his daughter Mikki everyday. Billy is preceded in death by his mother Eleanor Woodard (Robert, deceased ), father William P. Head, Sr. (Gloria, deceased), wife Jacqueline Head, brother Michael Woodard, uncle Jesse Thompson (Daisy, deceased), aunt Edna Nelson (Maurice), uncle George Head (Ula, deceased). Billy is survived by his brother John W. Head (Alice). He will be lovingly missed by his children: son William “Corky” Head, daughter Michele “Mikki” Head, stepchildren: Lynne Colson (Robert), Aljay Bettis, III (Roxie), Vicki Moore (Thomas). Grandchildren: Christopher-John Smith, Gregory M., Gabrielle D., William IV (aka Sean William) and Teresa Head, Rahman I, Robert III and Rakia Colson, Andre and Austin Moore, Christin Zollicoffer. Great-grandchildren: Makayla Head, Ava Cochran, Brianna, and Andre Moore, Jr., Robbi and Rahman Colson, II, Michaela, Christiana, and Caleb Zollicoffer.
