Violina V. Hazel

Violina Hazel Obituary Violina Virginia Hazel was born March 30, 1926 in Albany, Georgia. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and was baptized and remained faithful in her Christian walk. Violina was educated and graduated from the Dougherty County Public School System. Violina married the love of her life Claude Hazel after his return from serving in World War II. They were married on October 13, 1946, at an outdoor wedding in Miami, Florida. Violina and Claude relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1947 and, joined Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, September 3, 1947, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Odie M. Hoover, and continued her services under Reverend Dr. Otis Moss Jr., and Reverend Dr. Jawanza Karriem Colvin, until her health prevented her from attending. She was a devoted member of the Voices of Olivet and the Mass Choir for over 60 years, and March Birth Month Ministry. Violina was an amazing cook, she loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. She had a big heart and loved helping and caring for others, raising her niece and nephew Monique and Darryl as their very own and caring for several older relatives in their declining years. Violina was a dedicated and loyal employee that worked for the Wolf family for over 60 years. Most of all, she loved being with her soulmate and the love of her life, Claude. Moreover, her memory lives on through everyone that she touched and uplifted with her quick wit, her sassy spirit, and her incredible sense of style. Violina was preceded in death by Claude, her beloved husband of 72 years; her sister Hilda Washington, her niece(daughter) Monique Hazel, and her mother Willie Williams. Violina leaves to cherish her memory: her son Jeffrey Hazel; her grandchildren Jeffrey (Samantha) Owens and Remona Alexander, nephew (son) Darryl Terry, her great-niece Samantha Greene, god-daughter Felecia "Peaches" Syphoe, eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who dearly loved her.
