Victor Watkins Obituary The family would like all who attend the services on Friday to please wear some form of LIGHT BLUE to honor PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS on Victor's behalf!! Victor Willis Watkins, the only child born to the union of his parents, Isham and Ann Jane Watkins, was ushered into life on March 2, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio. He accepted Christ at an early age at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was active in youth activities and the gospel choir. Victor graduated from John Marshall High School in 1981. After high school, he and his Niece, Tonya, attended Bowling Green State University and after one year, he returned home and started his career in the hospitality industry as a night auditor at the Ramada Inn in Bedford Heights, Ohio. As God would have it, a career advancement opportunity became available at the Sheraton Cleveland City Centre Hotel in downtown Cleveland and Victor began working there as a customer service agent. He was deeply passionate about taking care of the guests and was highly recognized by them and management for his outstanding customer service skills. Victor worked at the Sheraton Hotel for over 15 years with co-workers whom he adored and respected. While there, he met and married his lovely wife, Carmen, in 1997. Having no children of his own, Victor became a loving family man, welcoming his two stepdaughters as if they were his own. The family enjoyed cruising, traveling to several countries, and seeing other parts of the world. Due to Victor’s diagnosis of cancer in 2018, three years later, his hospitality services career ended while working at the Hampton Hotel in Downtown Cleveland. His above and beyond approach was valiant towards his coworkers, and everyone loved him, just the same. Those that knew Victor, knew he was a loyal Cleveland Cavaliers fan and he also loved playing pool. He was a pool shark that would politely invite you to his basement for a game on his table and send you home with multiple losses. Victor grew to love jazz to the fullest after listening to it for years with his Dad. During the end of his cancer journey, he stayed strong, humbled himself before the Lord and chose Samara Joy, his favorite jazz artist, to serenade him through his medical treatments and therapy. Throughout his last few weeks of life, amongst family and friends, he expressed how he wants the whole world to know about “Prostate Cancer Awareness.” His final request was to get the word out, and everyone softly responded, “we will.” To know Victor was to love him and his smile would brighten up a room. Victors’ parents have preceded him in his death. He leaves to cherish and mourn his passing, a devoted wife, Carmen; his daughters Sabrina Coleman, La-Tasha Bender (Jermaine) of Kennesaw, GA; two bonus daughters, Teana Daniels, and Tierra Hampton (Eric) and nine grandchildren; his sister, Deborah Dickinson (Herman); his brother, Ron Hardy (Evelyn) of Charlotte, NC; his brother-in-law, Lionel Coleman (Kathy) of Navarre, FL; his 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations of nieces & nephews, along with a host of loving family and friends.
