Ruby Nevels Obituary Ruby Lee Nevels (Née Williams) was born on March 13, 1930 in Sawyerville, Alabama to the late Martha and Namon Williams Sr. and received her wings to glory on December 4, 2020. She was the fourth of seven children and the last of her siblings to pass. After graduating from High School and attending college, Ruby moved to Detroit, Michigan in the late 1950’s and began work as a masterful seamstress. After wedding in 1960, Ruby first moved from Detroit to Wilmington, Ohio and ultimately to Cleveland, Ohio to begin her new life with her husband of 60 years. After holding a few manufacturing jobs, Ruby landed a position with General Motors as a seamstress. She went on to hold several positions throughout her 33-year career with GM until retirement in 2005. Ruby could often be found outside enjoying her small backyard garden or orchestrating the planting of her beloved roses and bushes around the family home. And she wholly enjoyed cooking her large southern family meals, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Ruby was undeniably the best form of a mother there is, pouring all that she had into her family to ensure that her husband and her two sons had all that was needed to tackle this sometimes-challenging world; yet remaining humble and steadfast in her purpose. Those that were blessed to know or ever meet our mother, were undoubtedly met with kindness, and respect, and a smile that would shine into your soul. Mom, we are so very THANKFUL to have had you as the Queen of our family. It was our honor to care for you and joyful to sit, talk, and hold your hand tight. More so, we are so very THANKFUL that we gave you your flowers and praise while you were alive, and that Mrs. Ruby Lee Nevels, you left this earth knowing that you were so very loved by a family that SO LOVED YOU!! You were born into the world at home, and as you wished you left this earth at home. Grieving her passing is her husband Alfonso Nevels, her two sons Alan J. Nevels and Lorenzo J. Nevels, and her “like-a-son” nephew, Issac E. Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members; too many to mention. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Mildred L. Weeks, Mary B. Hobson, Namon Williams, Jr., Ollie G. Ryan, Rebecca O. Hearns, and Clarence Williams.
