Roy Strickland Obituary Family will not be present at the public viewing. Roy Edward Strickland Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024 at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio. He was born on May 3, 1933, to the late Emma (Cash) and T. Roy Strickland, Roy was a devoted brother to his late sister, Shirley Jean Strickland Roberts. Roy graduated from John Adams High School in 1951 and attended Kent State University. He honorably served in the U.S. Army as an airplane maintenance technician from 1953 - 1955, during the Korean War era. Following his military service, Roy was a true entrepreneur at heart, founding and managing several businesses until his retirement. He then joyfully served as a recess monitor at a local elementary school, where he was beloved by students and staff alike. Known as a "gentleman’s gentleman," Roy's life was marked by his enduring spirit of service and generosity, as he was deeply committed to helping others. His home was the hub of his family life. Roy’s passions included skiing, bowling, American Saddlebred horses, thoroughbred race horses, golf and sports; so much so that he provided private lessons to his children and family so they could excel and enjoy each of those activities along with him. He beamed with joy watching them make lifelong memories. Roy played the clarinet as a youngster and always enjoyed live music; his favorite pastime was listening to jazz. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Eddie and Lillie Cash; his parents Emma and Roy; beloved baby sister Jean, and cherished son Kevin. Roy's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his wife of 58 years, Veronica; devoted cousin, Janice Allen, his children, Anthony; his nephew Michael (Debra), who was considered a son; Shelli; granddaughter Alexa (Chaun), great-granddaughters, Gianna, Sienna and Celina; and Roy Jr. (Doricia) grandchildren, through marriage, Nathan, Ashley, Charles, Brittany, Danielle, Alyicia, Willie and Jordan, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and a host of friends. Roy's departure is deeply felt by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, integrity, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
