Roscoe Rush Obituary It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roscoe Rush, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life December 7, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Beachwood, Ohio. Born on February 20, 1934, in Dell, Arkansas, Roscoe was the cherished son of Peter Rush Sr. and Lucille Neely. From a young age, he exemplified a deep sense of integrity, kindness, and a passion for learning. Affectionately known as "Baby Rush," he was a joyful presence, always eager to follow his older brothers Lavelle and Roy through school and life’s adventures. Roscoe built a remarkable life defined by hard work, devotion, and love of family. After graduating from Washington High School in Caruthersville, Missouri, in 1952, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. There, he grew into a dedicated leader, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1956. His service instilled in him a profound sense of duty and resilience. Education was central to Roscoe’s life. In 1960, he proudly graduated from Lincoln University (MO) with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. This milestone opened the door to an illustrious career in technology, and community service, where he touched countless lives. His volunteerism with the youth through groups such as, Inroads and B. Buzz is a small highlight of the importance of giving back to community through teaching and inspiring our youth. Roscoe’s professional journey was filled with innovation and excellence. From his early days at NASA’s Lewis Research Center to pivotal roles at Chase Brass & Copper and The Sherwin-Williams Company, he became a trailblazer in information systems and database management. He was a mentor to many, always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom. Family was at the heart of Roscoe’s life. On February 22, 1963, he married the love of his life, Alice Jones. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and faith. Roscoe’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, sharing stories, and celebrating life’s moments—big and small. He is survived by his loving children Irene Michelle Rush (Pietrantozzi), Angela Elizabeth Rush, his grandchildren Cassandra Michelle (Pietrantozzi), Anthony Westin Rush Pietrantozzi (Victoria) and four siblings Helen (Russell), Tommie Lee, Virgil Sr., Gloria Faye Rush and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A man with deep commitment to family and community, Roscoe was a pillar of Lee Road Baptist Church, where he served as board chairman, treasurer, and devoted congregant. He also led the Lee Harvard Community Association, tirelessly working to uplift his neighborhood and inspire positive change. Roscoe continued service until he was called home with his commitment to Lincoln University Alumnae Association, the Northern Ohio Golf Association, Handicappers and through his service on the board of Friends of Greenhouse. Affectionately known as "Papa Roscoe", he found joy in life’s simple pleasures— cherishing moments with loved ones, playing golf, playing golf, and playing golf. His sense of humor (often dry), warm smile, and generous spirit will be dearly missed. Roscoe Rush leaves behind a foundation of love and strength.
