Robert Wright Obituary OBITUARY FOR DR. ROBERT C. WRIGHT, DDS.Robert Curtis Wright was born on September 20, 1948, he was the second sonborn to the late Eugene and Josie Wright. The kids in the neighborhood wouldoften flock to the Wright home to play with Robert and his brother, the lateDonald. Josie took Donald and Robert and many of the other neighborhoodchildren to Sunday School and vacation bible school at East Mt. Zion BaptistChurch, where Robert would accept Christ at an early age. It would also be duringhis childhood that his best friend would give him the nickname that would followhim the rest of his life: "Big Otis."Robert "Otis" attended the Cleveland Public Schools and would graduate as amember of John Adams High School's class of 1966. During his high schoolyears Otis played football in the position of offensive lineman. His footballprowess would earn him a scholarship to Maryland State College a.k.a. Universityof Maryland Eastern Shore. He would also pledge and became a member of theKappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and would graduate in 1970 with a bachelor of sciencedegree in biology.After completing his undergraduate work, Otis applied and was accepted to theHoward University School of Dentistry in Washington D.C. where he wouldobtain his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1975.Dr. Wright would return to Cleveland after completing his residency and brieflyopen his practice on Lee Road before joining the Shaker Dental Associates. Dr.Wright would also practice at the Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Clinic, the PublicHealth Clinic in Summit County, the Trumbull County State Prison System, theJordan Dental Centers, and the Cuyahoga County Jail. During his busy schedule,he also found time to teach dentistry as a Clinical Instructor at the Case WesternReserve University.Dr. Wright was a member of the National Dental Association and a formerpresident of the Forest City Dental Society. He was honored this year with theForest City Dental Society's Lifetime Achievement Award.Whether you knew him as Robert, Bobby, Big Otis, "O" or Dr. Wright, it is fair tosay that "Doc" was loved by all. He is survived by his nephews, Damon andDante Wright; aunts, Patricia (Abe) Hopps, Jacqueline Hammond, Janice Hopkins,and Ardella Wright; cousins, Renee Davis, Roger Cansler, and Clayton Cansler,and a huge host of loving family and close friends.
