Vaughn was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Bernard Vaughn Sr. (deceased) and Lillie Bell Vaughn (deceased) on December 6, 1950. He was the fifth of seven children. Robert Vaughn attended East Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio before leaving to enter the workforce. On June 9, 1973, he married Gladys Vaughn, and had two daughters, Karen Janeen Vaughn and Robin Teresa Vaughn. In 1974, Robert Vaughn began working for Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a machine operator. This is where he truly developed a love for trains. He remained employed at Norfolk and Southern Railroad until his retirement. One Easter Sunday, Robert T. Vaughn gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oakwood Village. He was a dedicated member of the church and served on the Usher Board. Robert T. Vaughn played a major part in his immediate community. He was available to cut your grass, assist with moving, or just being someone to confide in. He often opened his home to family and friends for events such as the Family Rib Off, Fourth of July, major sporting events, or just to lose a game of pool (billiards). Robert spent every Sunday watching the Cleveland Browns play even if he was not in the city. Robert T. Vaughn was a man with a “Big Personality.” Retirement allowed Robert to focus on the things he enjoyed most. Shortly after retirement he joined a pool team (billiard) with family and friends. This allowed him to travel to new places and meet new people while playing a game that he loved. Retirement also allowed Robert time to let the top down on G Vaughn, his Mercedes Kompressor and travel to South Carolina to spend time with his oldest daughter, Karen J. Vaughn (deceased). If he wasn’t in South Carolina he was in Florida visiting family and friends. Robert T. Vaughn enjoyed retirement to the fullest. Robert T. Vaughn departed this life at his home in Bedford Heights, Ohio on Thursday, May 9, 2024. He leaves to Cherish his loving daughter, Robin Vaughn (Timothy Jr.); his brothers Fred Vaughn (Sharon) and Gregory Vaughn Sr. (Stephanie); his grandchildren Mahogany Howard, Ryan Howard, Timon Howard, Mase Howard, and a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
