Rebecca S. McClintock

Rebecca McClintock Obituary Rebecca McClintock was born August 16, 1927 to the union of Willie and Jessie McClintock in Laurens, South Carolina. She accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel AME Church. As a teen she taught Sunday School which led to her love of working with children. Upon moving to Cleveland, Ohio in 1955, she united with St. James AME Church. She volunteered in the Church Nursery and upon retirement of Mrs. Willie Mae Wise (Supervisor), Rebecca Stepped up and became the Supervisor and worked for 50 years until she retired in 2014. She was honored with the naming of the Nursery, The Rebecca McClintock Nursery. The same love of working with children led her to seek employment in a program called “Headstart” at the Catholic Diocese. She started out as a Teacher’s Assistant. Because of her fine work that she did, she was encouraged by fellow church member, Lois Reed to take some classes in Early Childhood. This led her to becoming a full teacher and later promoted to Supervisor of Education. She retired in 1998 with 30 years of service. She was a member of Christian Education Department where she served as Recording Secretary for many years. She was an Usher, when not in the nursery. When she could no longer stand and serve, she sat down and served as well. On the morning of July 18, 2023, she was released from her long years of service to God, her family, and friends, received her wings and flew home to be with her God. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Lawrence McClintock, and a sister, Sadie Butler. She leaves to cherish her memories a sister Rachel McClintock, whom she raised as her own. 9 Nephews: Charles McClintock, Tracy McClintock, Quam McClintock, and T. J. McClintock, of Laurens, South Carolina; Bernard (Vanessa) McClintock of Columbia, South Carolina, Melvin McClintock, Sr. & Melvin McClintock Jr. of Maryland; Michael A. McClintock, Sr. & Michael McClintock, Jr. of Cleveland, OH. 9 Nieces Jessie McClintock, Angela McClintock, Erica McClintock, and Kiera McClintock of Laurens, S.C.; Joyce McClintock, Ashley McClintock, & Abigril McClintock of Maryland; Lakisha Dorsey and Brianna Campbell of Cleveland, OH. A very special and beloved cousin Harriet Smith, two special friends Carolyn Branch and Louise Knight. You will forever be present in our Hearts. THE SERVICE WILL BE LIVESTREAMED BY ST. JAMES A.M.E.
