Mrs. Rebecca Jackson

In her own words, Evangelist Rebecca Jackson would say “I went home to be with Jesus” on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Cleveland, OH, having attained the blessed age of 96 years. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Manzy Lacey and Gertrude Bush Lacey. Born May 24, 1921, Rebecca was the tenth child from their marriage, a total of fourteen born to this union. As a member of a very religious family, Rebecca confessed Christ at an early age. She would share stories of how the bible looked different when she grew up having pictures of the “devil and people going to hell.” She would say, “I want to go to heaven when I die.” Rebecca’s relationship with the Lord was her life and she read the “Word” and prayed for others incessantly. As a wife of Aaron Jackson (preceded her in death) and mother of three she encouraged attending church on Sunday, being modest, and respectful to others. Her children have many family stories to share including their mother’s devotion as one of God’s most faithful servants. . Evangelist Rebecca Jackson had an unswerving commitment to her Christian faith, family, friends, and those in need. As a member of Calvary C.O.G.I.C., her past faithful church memberships include Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church under Rev. E. Theophilus Caviness. Fondly, many recall the many times you opened your home to transitioning family members until they found their own residence. As for the sick and shut in, she has always shown compassion. Evangelist Jackson would visit nursing homes, biweekly, particularly Candlewood Park Health Care Center along with Sister Bradford, and earlier with Sister Nelson. In a caring manner, she would sit with them eating meals and just engaging in needed conversation. She created an atmosphere to the patients that they do matter which was affirming to patients and staff. Bro. Mike from Calvary C.O.G.I.C. would later take her to visit sick & shut in until she was no longer physically able. Furthermore, she embraced praying for others and using a prayer box with names of many family, church members, and friends. Evangelist Jackson’s on-air radio ministry, along with Sister Hancock and Sister Delk encouraged calls for prayer from those she never seen. She truly was a “prayer warrior.” You even left your own home to move into a dear friend’s home. For years, you cared for her until her passing. Your eldest daughter Philis, (deceased) thanked her in many ways for taking care of us all, and working inside and outside the home , as a wife combining incomes with her husband, making ends meet for her family.
