Patrick Bellephant Obituary The family will have a Memorial Service in Chicago, Illinois to celebrate the life of Patrick on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Patrick Floyd Bellephant, a cherished son, brother, husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio, with his loving wife of 28 years by his side. Born on November 2, 1965, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Zeola and Joe Bellephant, Patrick's journey was marked by his deep faith, commitment to service, and unwavering love for his family. Embracing his faith early, Patrick was baptized at Caldwell AME Zion Church in Kankakee. His academic and extracurricular pursuits at Westview High School showcased his talents in both the band and on the swim team. Patrick's passion for music continued at Kentucky State University, where he played in the marching band and became a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He graduated with a BA in English, a testament to his love for literature and communication. Patrick's professional life was dedicated to serving others, working as a Probation/Parole Officer in Louisville, KY, and Kankakee County, IL. His journey led him to Cleveland, OH, where he married Melanie Walker in 1995 and became an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Patrick's commitment to social service saw him mentoring countless youths, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. A true family man, Patrick reveled in family reunions, vacations, and particularly loved the beach. His ability to connect with people was unparalleled; he never met a stranger and could always strike up a conversation. Despite facing several health challenges, Patrick remained positive, often saying, "God is not good, God is great," when asked how he was doing. Patrick's legacy is carried on by his mother, Zeola Bellephant; brother, Vance Bellephant (Sonja); sister Pamela Wilson (Michael) wife, Melanie Walker; daughters, Jocelyn (Zaide) Noel and Whitney Bellephant; granddaughter, Zendaya Noel, nieces and nephews: Ashley Wilson, Patricia Cartage (Joseph), Jessica Bellephant, Courtney Wilson, Edward Bellephant, Jaden Cartage, Jerell Wilson, Aliyah Brown, Cole Wilson and Cameron Wilson; close friends, Tommy Ghant, Tyrone Walker, and Wayne Stewart; godchildren Tajuanda Ghant and Chad Siler and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, fraternity brothers and friends. Patrick was preceded in death by his beloved father, Joe Bellephant. Patrick's warmth, generosity, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
