Patricia Ross Obituary Patricia Annette Ross (née Burroughs) was born on January 29, 1944 to Mr. William R. and E. Geraldine Burroughs in Wilmington, North Carolina. When she was 6 months of age, she moved with her mother to Cleveland, Ohio to live with an aunt while her father served in World War II. She would call Cleveland home for the remainder of her life. Pat attended Lafayette Elementary School and Alexander Hamilton Junior High School before graduating from John Adams High School in 1962. From there, she ventured to Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Social Work. She was a strong supporter of and advocate for Hampton University, dedicating several decades serving on the leadership team of the Cleveland Chapter of the Hampton University Alumni Association. She began her working career as a social worker for the City of Cleveland Children’s Welfare Department. She eventually moved to University Hospitals of Cleveland where she worked as a Patient Representative – serving as a liaison between patients and the hospital administration. She would fill this role admirably for 24 years until she retired in 2012. During her time at University Hospitals, she attended to the problems of countless patients, ranging from celebrities to the general public. She was loved by patients, hospital employees, and medical professionals alike, receiving several awards for her excellent service. In 1968, she met Curtis R. Ross, a school teacher, at a school social function. The couple began dating and quickly fell in love, getting married on August 16, 1969. They had two children together – Curtis Jr. and Jason – whom they loved and to whom they devoted their lives. She loved traveling and experiencing exciting places with her family, including Italy, Austria, Panama, and many cities and attractions in the United States. One of her main activities with her family was attending and supporting Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Pat sang in the choir, served on several administrative committees, and was a camp counselor for numerous youth outings. While attending a local community pottery class, Pat discovered that she had a talent for creating beautiful, intricate pieces of ceramic artwork. She pursued this talent and would go on to hold a Christmas Bazaar for 21 years, where she sold pottery and celebrated the holiday season with family and friends. Another one of her favorite endeavors was to serve as a legal guardian for Ms. Jasmin Jones until Jasmin’s passing a few years ago. Pat provided guardianship through the Lutheran Ministries. Thanks to her kindness and compassion, Pat Ross had a positive impact on many lives until her transition on February 13, 2024. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. William and Mrs. Geraldine Burroughs; her sister, Ms. Judith Burroughs who passed in 2018; and her ward, Ms. Jasmin Jones. She is survived by her husband, Curtis R. Ross Sr., two sons, Curtis Jr. (spouse Hank Johnson) and Jason (spouse LaToya Ross), and two granddaughters – Jayla and Jazmin.
