Olga L. (Wilson) Powell

Olga Powell Obituary Olga Lurena Powell was born in Cleveland, Ohio to her loving parents, Square and Evelyn Wilson on October 6, 1956. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized by Elder Jessie Jones at a young age. She was a diligent student at Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from Jane Addams High School in 1975. While socializing at a pancake breakfast, Olga met Donald Powell and the two would later join in holy matrimony after several years of courtship. Olga and Donald were blessed with their only child Donald Anthony Powell in 1978. For nearly 20 years Olga was a proud employee of the MBNA Corporation where as a revered leader (supervisor) to many. Olga loved watching her stories, bowling, shooting pool, playing cards, and relaxing on her porch with those closest to her. Known for her no-nonsense disposition, she never shied away from telling you exactly how she felt. Those who knew her well knew her to be a generous woman like no other. Olga would give you the shirt off her back with no questions asked. A protector and provider, she graciously opened her home to her family many times. Olga would go out of her way to ensure those she loved were always taken care of no matter the expense. She was known to go overboard on birthday, holiday, and “just because” gifts. A headstrong, feisty, and protective woman of her word, Olga would always defend her family and friends to the end- her loyalty was pure and unconditional. Olga balanced discipline with loving support in a way that only she could. This is what her family, friends and loved ones will miss most about her. Olga passed away after a brief illness surrounded by family who love her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Square and Evelyn Wilson; husband, Donald Powell; sister, Donna Jean McCloud; and brothers, Joseph L. and Stanford C. Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memory her only child, Donald Anthony Powell (Saniyyah); grandchildren, Antonio T. Powell, Amari D. Powell, and A’Niyyah A. Powell; sisters, Evelyn Hood, Karman Aaron; brothers, Leon and Nathaniel Wilson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will always remember and miss her dearly.
