Myrtle White Anderson

Ms. Myrtle Anderson Obituary Myrtle Anderson was the fifth child born June 20, 1926 to the late Berry and Armeed (Somerville) White in Birmingham Alabama. As a teenager Myrtle helped her father take care of a younger brother Paul and Sister Edith while she was still in high school. Myrtle graduated from A.H. Parker High School with honors in May of 1944. In 1945 Myrtle took a government test for St. Philips nursing school in Richmond, Virginia. She became a nurse cadet with a R.N. After nursing school, Myrtle and about four of her classmates moved to Brooklyn, New York to work as nurses. Myrtle later became a Public Health Nurse. Myrtle’s family would often visit her in New York on vacation, she knew all of the great places and sights there were to see. Myrtle always said she didn’t want to get married until she was 40 years old. At the age of 38 Myrtle met John T. Anderson and in 1966 they were married. After Myrtle and John were married they moved to their home in Staten Island, New York. Myrtle and John were both devote Jehovah Witnesses. Myrtle and John were married for about 42 years and had no children. John passed away in September of 2008. At the age of 89 Myrtle remained in Staten Island, New York. In 2015 Myrtle’s sister Edith and her nephew John White Jr. went to New York to move Myrtle to Cleveland to be with family. For five years Myrtle lived with her sister Edith in Beachwood, Oh. For three years Denise Jenkins was Myrtle’s caretaker. Doris Richardson also took care of Myrtle out of the kindness of her heart for 5 years (on the weekends and later during the week) she was truly a blessing. Myrtle continued to attend Jehovah Witness meetings and assemblies, she was also able to travel out of town on a few occasions. On December 23, 2020 at the age of 94 Myrtle passed away. She will truly be missed by her family and all that knew her. Myrtle is survived by her sister Edith Richardson (Hewitt) Nephews Joseph and Wesley Dumas SR (Brenda) John White JR (Wyndy) Marc White (Carol) Nieces Elissa Coleman, Dorann Richardson And Judith Martin. Grandnephews Christopher (Lena) Peter, Joshua, Andrew, Yisrahyah, Ehmeht, Salil, Asa, Timothy, Wesley JR and Stephen. Grandnieces Juliet King (Charles) Kayla, Carly, Alissa, Yovehla, Shaiehlah, Sigaleet, Vardeet, Malcah; and a host of other great- grandnephews and nieces, family and friends.
