Mollieta Dorsey Obituary Mollieta Helvey Dorsey was born November 2, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edgar and Lillian Helvey. She was the only daughter born to this union. She attended Cleveland City Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1969. Following high school, she attended Ohio University and obtained a Bachelor of Education in 1973. She began teaching at Warner Elementary School. She met and married Joe Dorsey, and to this union her son, Joseph Dorsey was born. Mollieta was initiated into the Lambda Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated on January 14, 1983. She firmly believed in being of “service to all mankind”. She continued her education and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Cleveland State in 1997. She upheld a full career in the Cleveland City Schools System from 1973-1997 as an educator at both Warner Elementary and South High. She then went on to serve as principal from 1997-2004 at Joseph Gallagher, Max Hayes, East High and East Tech. The lessons she provided were not just in the classroom from textbooks but also valuable lessons in life. Faith was the backbone of Mollieta’s life. She grew up with God in her life and served Him until her last days at Mt. Zion Congregational United Church of Christ. Her service spanned from a choir member, a deacon, to the Head of the Hospitality Committee at Mt. Zion. As the Head of the Hospitality Committee she ministered to church members, veterans, the homeless, and the greater Cleveland community by way of their stomachs. Her recipes brought smiles to many faces over the years at Mt. Zion. As a deacon, she helped those who were grief stricken, seeking employment or a place to just call home. Her generous and loving nature helped those of all ages and backgrounds seeking to gain a closer relationship with Christ. Mollieta loved to travel and often visited friends and family throughout the nation. She enjoyed entertaining by making her mouth-watering dishes and “out of this world” yeast rolls. Mollieta loved her family and sought to attend as many Wilder Family reunions as possible. However, her love overflowed for her grandson, Joseph Jr., who became the apple of her eye. In just a blink of an eye, Mollieta joined the heavenly hosts on March 7, 2022. She was reunited with her sister Carolyn E. Wynne and her parents in eternal rest. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Joseph L. Dorsey (Pamela); one grandson, Joseph Dorsey Jr., two nephews: Walter L. Wynne (Kimberly) and Kevin B. Wynne (Alfreda); three great nieces: Malakai Wynne, Jordyn Wynne, Taylor Wynne; and one great nephew: Tyler Wynne. Along with family members, Mollieta leaves very dear friends Deborah Hines, Edward Chaney, Edna Owens, Renee Jackson, Barbara Poon, and Doris Allen to mourn her loss.
