Michael Bruce (Mike #92) Robinson

Michael Robinson Obituary Michael Bruce Robinson was born on August 19, 1956, to Delores and Bruce Robinson in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the city of Cleveland’s Glenville High School where he excelled in football and remained a lifelong Tarblooder. He attended a preparatory school in Connecticut prior to attending Oklahoma State University and playing defensive end then transferred to the University of Arizona playing the same position. The Cleveland Browns drafted him in the fourth round of the 1981 National Football League Draft. He was a stand-out defensive end in 1981 and 1982. His family rallied around him with strong attendance at the home games. He tried out for a couple of NFL Teams in 1983, and in 1984 he landed a defensive end position with the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL until it disbanded. After football, Mike worked as a security officer at a local hotel then with CMHA for several years. He remained in the Cleveland area working a variety of security assignments, some even for visiting local recording artists. His last assignment was with the Stark County Public Library system. He had such an excellent knowledge of football from high school to the pros and really could’ve gotten a job as a scout for any of the pro teams. In addition to football, his passion was cooking. He prided himself on being able to prepare family-size meals almost every Sunday just as his loving mother Delores did all of her life. He learned how to prepare his favorites like candied yams, mac-n-cheese, and greens via telephone during his college days by calling on his mom as he worked away in the kitchen. He was also very family oriented and looked forward to many holidays knowing he would gather with his siblings and their families. His health started to fail him a few years ago but he endured the doctor tests, pain and hospital stays, determined to keep going. He had a great sense of humor and kept his family and coworkers laughing. He looked forward to being an unofficial mentor to the students who visited the library. He leaves to mourn his loving children Michael Beau, Bianca, Milan, Pieta, and Tyler; as well as grandchildren Mireya and Micah. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Paula, Frankie, Kevin, and Andre; in addition to step-siblings Bryna, Pam, and Paulette. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Duane, and his sister, Vanessa.
