Mark Smith Rogers Obituary Mark Anthony Smith Rogers was born on February 13, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was raised by his mother, Lonnie Jean Rogers (nee Smith), his Step-father, William Lee Rogers and his father, Bryant Perry, all of whom preceded him in death. He was the oldest of four children and was a loving and protective brother to his younger siblings. The family moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area in the early 1960’s and eventually settled in East Cleveland, where Mark went through the East Cleveland School System and graduated from Shaw High School. He later attended Cuyahoga Community College, studying Business Management. Mark loved music and his cousin Donald Smith Sr. (deceased), mentored and introduced him to Disk Jockeying (DJ’ing) when Mark was very young. DJ’ing was not just a hobby for Mark. It was a passion and an art, and he became known as one of Cleveland’s Premier DJ’s. Mark was involved in a variety of careers until finally finding his niche in the area of Forestry in 1994, which was introduced to him by his late friend, Kevin Russell. Mark was a “Master Arborist” and was loved by many of his customers, not only for his work ethic and professionalism, but for his engaging personality, and making every customer feel special. Mark worked for several major tree companies, while running his own company, CR (Cut Rate) Tree Company and he worked as an Arborist for The City of Cleveland’s Department of Forestry until February, 2022 when he became ill. Mark was a loving and doting father to his son Micah and daughter Mariah. Mark instilled in Micah, the qualities of kindness, integrity and patience. Mariah was the apple of Mark’s eye and he loved her dearly. Family was very important to Mark and he enjoyed family gatherings with his many cousins. Mark was known as a very fashionable dresser and especially for his collection of hats which he always wore with his very stylish outfits. Mark accepted Christ at a young age and was an active member at The Word Church until his illness prevented him from attending. In 2014, Mark met his future wife, Kimberly Jones, who became his confidante, diligent caregiver and the love of his life. The couple married in April, 2022. Kimberly always stood steadfast by Mark’s side and especially from the time of his diagnosis of Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer) in 2019 for which he fought a very hard battle. Though Mark surpassed the prognosis of life expectancy for this disease, he lost his battle for life on August 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Mark was a true Warrior, Survivor and Thriver until the end. Mark leaves to mourn his Wife, Kimberly (nee Jones). Siblings: Princeton Rogers, Clifton Rogers (Erma), Dawn Rogers-Macklin, Cheryl Bloodworth, Daryl Boggan, Jasmine Boggan. Children; Micah Rogers (Michelle) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mariah Rogers, Megan Jones Turner and Morgan Jones Davis. Aunts: Thelma Finley of Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy Chappell. Uncle: Clarence Perry. Nieces: Diesha Coggins, Jennifer and Jessica Macklin, Heaven Byers.
