LaVonne Winbush Obituary LAVONNE D. WINBUSH LIVESTREAM LINK LaVonne Daryl Marshall-Winbush was born January 31, 1942, to Harold and Dorothy Winbush in Homestead, Pennsylvania. She had three brothers and one sister, Harold Jr., Myrna, Raymond and Ronald. She was a young attendee of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church, in Pittsburgh and embraced the Christian faith at a very early age as evidenced by her many promotions and faithful attendance at several vacation Bible schools. During the summer of 1948, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio where LaVonne graduated from Glenville High School in 1960. LaVonne always was her own person and enjoyed watching her favorite football team, the Cleveland Browns and favorite basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. She also participated in sports and taught her two younger brothers Raymond and Ronald to roller skate at the old PlaMor Rink on Cedar Avenue. LaVonne loved to cook and would invite everyone to cookouts at her house on hot summer days in Cleveland. She loved to dance and taught her brothers the Mash Potato, the Jerk and the Twist. Friday nights at the Winbush house was board game and card night; LaVonne remained a fiercely competitive bid whist player throughout her life. She was active in spectator sports, loved going to dog races and one time even joined a bowling league. LaVonne was always interested in technology and worked in customer service at AT&T, the telephone giant from which she retired after 30 years. Ironically, because of her time at AT&T, she avoided using nearly all forms of technology during her later years. She traveled throughout the United States including New York, Atlanta and Florida with her daughter Aleta and in her latter years, took a cruise to Jamaica. She also enjoyed watching mini-series on TV, including the 1976 classic Rich Man, Poor Man which she said was one of the best. LaVonne Transitioned to the Ancestors on November 22, 2024. LaVonne’s legacy lives on through her beloved children, Aleta Renee Marshall and Marc Darryl Trayham, (wife, Niecee) and brother, Ray Winbush. She was grandmother to Eunique, DaShon, DaVon Marshall; Marc Darryl, Jr., Darien Martin and Tiffany Sherry Trayham; great-grandmother to Nalah, Khaza, Saint, Zaynah and Deon. LaVonne’s legacy continues through her dear nieces and nephews Towanda (husband Cliff), Lori, Leon Jr. (wife Aja), Deanna (husband James), Harolynn, Omari (wife Beverly), Sharifa, Faraji, Nicholas (wife Jasmine) and Nicole along with a host of grandnieces and grandnephews.
