Kenneth Emmanuel Lacey

Mr. Kenneth Lacey Obituary Kenneth Emanual Lacey was born in Welch, West Virginia on January 12, 1954. He was the oldest of three children. He and his family moved to Cleveland in 1963, where he attended East Cleveland City Schools. In 1971, Ken graduated from Shaw High School. In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany and Amsterdam. In 1977, he was honorably discharged from his military service. He attended Cuyahoga Community College where he continued his wrestling career. In 1981, Ken met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Ezell, and to this union their one and only daughter Sheikia Lacey was born in 1985. Ken loved spending time with his daughter, known only to him as Munji. Ken continued his public service working at the VA hospital, the Federal Building and the United States Postal Service. He also worked various other jobs including the kennel. Kenneth, affectionately known as “Lacey” or “Ken Dog” was a man of many passions and talents. He loved to cook and have a good time with family and friends. He could always be found up late at night cooking something good and singing. Ken was an all-around athlete and sports fan. He wrestled in high school and also at the collegiate level. Of all the things he enjoyed and was good at, music was his life. He, his friends and brother were recording artists with their band “Earth to Eternity”. Ken had a personal relationship with God and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at The Word Church. In 2015, when his oldest granddaughter was three months old, Ken suffered a stroke that sent him to a long-term care facility. On November 30, 2020, Ken was called home to be with the Lord. Ken’s father, Herman Lacey and nephew Arjey Lacey preceded him in death. He leaves behind his mother, Bernice Lacey; daughter, Sheikia Lacey (Otis); grandchildren, Santanna and Zorah Haywood; his love, Gwendolyn Ezell; brother, Michael (Faye); sister, Jackie; nieces, Andrea and Tiffany; nephew, Troy; great nephew, Jamier; great niece, Aercon; and a host of other family and friends.
