Kara Vanee Strong

Kara Strong Obituary Kara Vanee Strong was born on November 18, 1971 in Cleveland, Ohio to James E. Strong and Gloria Jean Burroughs Strong. Kara is the middle daughter of three girls. Kara attended Noble Elementary School, Monticello Jr. high school and graduated from Shaw High School in June of 1990. After graduation Kara attended Triton College receiving her Associate degree, graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree and graduated from Capella University with her Master’s degree in Speech Therapy. Kara was christened and baptized at an early age by Luther F. Hill at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, her family church. She attended Mt. Sinai Junior Church, Choir, Sunday school, Guild Girls, and the sunshine band and was one of the many children taking piano lessons from Ms. Hillard who was the youth Sunday school director. Kara participated in many school activities but her most beloved activity was during her “Girl Scout”days. Kara proudly and faithfully was a Girl Scout from 1st grade to the12th grade. While in Girl Scouts she attained a great deal of badges. She was also a speech and debate team member where she won many awards, trophies and honorable mentions. During the summer she was a Girl Scout counselor. Kara also enjoyed the multitude of exchange students that lived in the family home over the years. In January of 1998 Kara Vanee Strong married Ifeanyi Dominic Nwabudu in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2002 they traveled to Nigeria where she was married in a “Traditional Nigerian Wedding” and to this union was born a son, Chinwindo Strong on September 22, 2004. Kara enjoyed a very multifaceted work history that took her many places in life where she enjoyed meeting people. Her early career began at Academy Child Center and Academy Early Learning Center in Medina, Ohio the family business. She was Owner and Director at the Medina location and held various other positions in child care. In 2012 Kara moved to Janesville, Wisconsin where she worked at Mercy Hospital. In 2019 she was working at a Medical Supply Company when she was diagnosed with Cancer. Kara was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking her many different dishes that she learned at home and also some favorite Nigerian dishes. Kara also had many plants throughout her home and beautiful home decor. Another one of her favorite activities was traveling the world, especially with her son Chinwindo Strong. To cherish her memory: Kara leaves behind her son Chinwindo (Noah) Strong, Janesville, Wisconsin, mother Gloria J. Strong, Sisters Kwana Strong, Katina (Cottrell) Davis, nephews Sincere, Caleb, Chance Davis and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Her Father James E. Strong Jr. preceded her in death. Kara fought the most courageous battle against Cancer for 5 years with her son Chinwindo by her side. There was a team of special friends and family members that were with Kara daily. In Hospice of Western Reserve and hospice at home Kara was shown much love. This organization lifted Kara up in prayer everyday; Can Care Support Group Houston, Texas *Sherill had daily prayer and daily text messages to Kara from March 2019 to March 2024.
