Joyce Hurt Obituary Joyce (Carson) Hurt, affectionately known as Snookie, was born on April 2, 1939, to the late Annie Mae Evans and Percy Carson. She received her wings to glory on Friday, April 26, 2024. She was married to the late Richard Hurt who was an ideal partner and grandfather. The second oldest of ten siblings, Snookie attended Cleveland Public Schools and relished the lifelong friendships she maintained throughout her stay here on this earth. Snookie was very spiritual and loved the Lord. She never stopped seeking the words of fulfillment from the body of Christ and found her home at Holy Trinity Baptist Church. Joyce lived her life through the teachings of GOD, always trusted his word and loved her brothers and sisters in Christ. Her life experiences were key to the stern (some would call strict) nurturing and expectations she had for the two people she cherished the most, her children, Gregory, and Cathy. Snookie was also humbled, grateful and thankful for the kindness, patience, and attention she received from her daughter-in-law, Dorniece. Snookie spoke frequently about the love and care from her one and only daughter-in-law whether she was ill or just hanging out. She also found amazing joy in her grandchildren, whom she talked about with the most loving smile. Snookie spoke often about how she treasured the time spent with her great-grandchildren. While growing up she became quite independent and retired from Diamond F Corporation. She supported her family and always wanted the best for her children and did not penny-pinch. Shopping weekly at Higbee and May Co., they were well-dressed and meticulously clean. Snookie loved to cook, and her passion was baking and making the best pound cakes ever. She loved dancing and listening to music. She became a sports connoisseur, knowing the names of every NBA player in the league. She never missed watching a game and became so absorbed that she reluctantly answered the phone. Whatever she felt passionate about, she could not be swayed, Snookie would never back down in a debate and held on to her perspective. Snookie lived a long and fruitful life, and her family is grateful for the contributions she made. She was a strong matriarch of the family. She believed in right from wrong, and how important it is to treat others right. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father Annie Evans and Percy Carson, two sisters Arlene, and Kathleen. Three brothers, Raymond, Raynard, and Reginald. She leaves to mourn, her son Gregrory Carson, daughter-in-law Dorniece, daughter, Cathy Carson. Four Grandchildren, Quichell Shineka Drake, (Paxton) Shantil (Dont’e), Denico (Ni’co) Carson, Kaniethea Janee Keith (Larry). Twelve Great Grand Children, one Great-Great Grand Child. Four sisters, Mattie Hill, Shirley Smith, Marcia Evans, Karen Evans. One brother, Randolph Evans (Carolyn), And a host of relatives and friends.
