Joseph Hightower Obituary A LIFE TO BE REMEMBERED It is with heavy hearts that we bid a final farewell to Mr. Joseph Hightower, age 94, of Cleveland, Ohio. He went to rest at the Lord’s side on June 19, 2023. He is well-remembered for his friendly personality, big smile, and zest for life. No one will forget his relentless passion for bowling. Joseph Hightower was born on September 6, 1928, in Ethel, WV. He was the only son born to Uman Hightower and Emma Cotton. A proud resident of Cleveland since the 1940s, Joseph worked at White Motor Corp for 25 years. He also served as Head Security Guard at Cleveland Clinic’s W.O. Walker Building. A fan of many sports, Joe was especially keen on bowling. He lived to compete in tournaments! After rolling a perfect game on January 7, 1996, “The Legend” (as Clevelanders dubbed him) was inducted into The Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Louis. He was also a proud member of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and the Fairfax Chapter of the Silver Foxes. Joe also participated in softball leagues, weekly aquacise classes, golfed, did Tai Chi, and enjoyed watching baseball. He was also passionate about gardening, planting one every year. When it wasn’t about sports, Joe could be found cooking, reading, gardening, watching old westerns and spending time at Fairfax Recreational Center. Joseph Hightower was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Cotton and Uman Hightower, and his son, Lawrence Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his beautiful daughter Regina (John) Casmon; wonderful son, Kenneth Hightower; loving grandchildren, John Casmon Jr. (Geetika), Robert Casmon (Tamia), Lawrence Williams, Terrance Williams, Deidra Williams; five cheerful great-grandchildren, Jaimun Casmon, Niam Casmon, Deloran Williams, Leah Williams, Bella Williams; adoring friend, Betty Bizzell; “bonus daughter”, Louisa Foster; “bonus granddaughter” Unique Foster; and a host of extended relatives and companions.
