Joseph Casey Obituary Not an ending but a beginning… Lift up your head, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in . Psalm 24:7-8 The King in all his glory called Joseph C. Casey from earth to glory early in the morning just before the break of dawn. Joseph was on the battlefield for the Lord and served him faithfully until he died. He was born in Jenkin Jones, West Virginia on June 20, 1947. Both of his parents preceded him in death. He attended Gary District High School and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Here he worked several different jobs; finally settling with University Hospitals of Cleveland as a Medical Courier for over 28 years. In 1962, Joseph dedicated his life to Christ and joined Clinton Chapel AME under the leadership of Samuel Harrison. He worked faithfully in many ministries. He ran the Food Bank for the church under the supervision of Mary Shepherd for over 25 years. He also took charge of the Farmers Market, outside of the church for over 8 years, serving the local community. Joseph worked tirelessly at his duties until his health began to fail. Even then he still witnessed and glorified God to all he met. He continued to press on toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. His struggle with cancer for the last 8 – 10 years finally took its toll. He was a valiant soldier who fought until he had no more to give. Never a complainer, always a praiser. He loved the Lord and church family with all his heart. Few people called him Joseph, he was lovingly called “Casey” even by his Pastor. He kept the faith-finished the course he is home at last. We’re going to miss him so very much. But we know he is with the Lord today. His struggle is over. So, we’re not saying goodbye; just see you later “Casey”. He will be sadly missed by his two loving daughters, Alesha Borom and Roberta (James) Lane; Sister, Sharon Casey of Washington, DC; two sister-in-laws, Annie (Kitty) Casey and Virginia (Jim) Casey Davison; one great grandson, Haiden Johnson and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of dear friends. Family that has preceded him in death are six brothers, William, Wycliff, Edward, Richard, James and Louis; two sisters, Lena Mae Foye and Billie Ann White and one granddaughter, Stephanie Lane.
