Jean Pattillo

Margaretta Jean Miles Pattillo was born on August 24, 1930 to Albert Marshall and Clara Elizabeth Miles in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She was the second child of three daughters. She passed on to God's hands Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Monte fore Nursing Facility. She attended the local Williamsport schools, graduating from Williamsport High School in the class of 1948. She graduated from the Apex Beauty School and obtained her license as a hair stylist. Jean was employed by Dr. Mannie Zabell Dental Service and later retired from Parkview Federal Savings Bank in 2001. Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized in 1943 by Rev. Madison A. Bowe at Shiloh Baptist Church in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. After her marriage to Charles, they moved to Cleveland where she joined East Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1980. She served the Lord faithfully and had the joy of seeing her children accept Jesus Christ; learning from her example to "serve the Lord with gladness." Her service for the Lord was outwardly displayed as a member of Lifeline, the Sanctuary Choir, and Julia Missionary Circle. Her love of the Church was evident as one of her happiest moments at Shiloh Baptist in 1947 when Jean sang The Holy City accompanied by her sister Thelma on Easter Sunday at the dedication of the Hammond Organ. Jean instilled in her children to pursue higher education; reach for their dreams and was happy to attend their college graduations. On September 27, 1952, Jean was united in holy matrimony to Charles Lewis Pattillo to whom she was devoted for 59 years. Out of this union was born two children, son, Charles Albert and daughter, Kimberly Clara Pattillo-Harper (deceased). Though close to the end of life, the illness which claimed her life had also diminished some of her memory; it could not erase her recall of her church, her children, family and friends. Thanking God for her life are her husband, Charles Lewis; son, Charles Albert, daughter Kimberly Clara Pattillo-Harper and sister, Alberta Brooks; (5) Grandchildren, whom they, with affection, referred to her as "Gramma Jean" are Kali Jean Harper, Patrick Charles, Columbus, OH, Alicia Marie, Chicago, IL, Alexandra Elizabeth, and Kellen Marshall; nieces, Deborah Beth and Alexis Beth Maull, Lewes, DE; very special friend, Mrs. Lillie Spikes and a host of cousins and friends.
